Position Overview
The Manufacturing / Mechanical Engineer supports plant leaders and production personnel in developing and implementing manufacturing processes that result in high-quality products consistently meeting or exceeding customer expectations. This role applies engineering principles to develop programming, fixtures, and feedback supporting customer designs and end products, while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to solve problems and improve processes.
Key Responsibilities
Product Development and Process Improvement
Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) process at all levels
Conceptual design of new products and improvement of existing products
Create and validate new designs (modeling/drafting/BOM creation)
Develop product definitions and requirements
Recommend and introduce improvements to manufacturing methods
Manufacturing Support
Direct programming of CNC equipment
Machine tool justification, selection, commissioning, and operationalization
Tool design and implementation
Cutting & forming tool identification and implementation
Provide manufacturing liaison support to operations, purchasing, and estimating
Project Management
Manage and maintain schedules for assigned design projects
Execute design project components effectively under pressure for time-sensitive projects
Technical Support and Communication
Create and present concepts/products to internal and external customers
Provide technical reviews for internal product designs
Deliver technical presentations
Support program design reviews, drawing reviews, failure analysis, and anomaly resolution
Create test plans, conduct testing, and document results
Required Qualifications
Associate Degree in Engineering
5+ years’ experience in sheet metal engineering and disciplines
Excellent SolidWorks or equivalent modeling skills
Above average knowledge of manufacturing principles and equipment, including CNC
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
Custom Sheet Metal Fabrication experience
Experience with automation processes and new technology
