State of Montana Business MT Division Administrator in Helena, Montana

About this Position Business MT’s goal is to be the lead business development division for the State of Montana by supporting business growth and the prosperity of Montana communities. Our mission is to retain, expand and attract businesses that provide an economic impact for Montana communities through public/private partnerships, leveraged funding and support of economic opportunities for Montana businesses and entrepreneurs. The Business MT Division administers programs that provide technical assistance (finance, marketing, export, planning) and financial assistance (grants and loans) to Montana’s businesses with specific emphasis on projects that have business development, growth of revenue and job creation opportunities. The Division Administrator for the Business Montana (MT) division is responsible for directing the Department’s efforts in the areas of job and business retention, and enhancement of international trade. The position reports to the Deputy Director and is responsible for management of 17-25 budgeted full-time employees (FTE) in the division. The position must manage and strategically invest a large and complex budget, consisting of state general fund, state special revenue, and federal funds. The Division Administrator will be highly engaged in legislative processes involving budget and policy impacting the division. Business MT is comprised of the following functions: Business Development (including technical assistance and grant and loan programs for business growth), Small Business Development Center, Indian Country Economic Development, and Export Montana (focusing on international trade of manufactured goods and diplomacy). In addition, the Division Administrator is responsible for providing support for the following boards: Small Business Development Center Advisory Board and the State Tribal Economic Development Council.
