State of Montana Energy Engineering Analyst in Helena, Montana

DEQ is recruiting for an Energy Engineering Analyst to join our team in the Montana Energy Office. The Office’s work includes engineering energy saving measures for state-owned facilities, planning and funding electric vehicle deployment, managing clean energy finance programs, providing public education about our energy system, and leading Montana’s energy emergency response team. Responsibilitiesfor the Energy Engineering AnalystIncludedeveloping and managing energy upgrade projects for state-owned buildings; reviewingenergystudies,buildingplans,specifications,andcommissioningreports; conducting and verifying estimated energy savings onpublicbuildings;maintainingandmanagingtheenergyusedatabaseforpublicbuildings;developing/updatingutility use baseline assessments for state-owned buildings; and providing oversight for the Energy Performance Contracting Program.ThisworkisgenerallyconductedaspartofasmallengineeringteamintheEnergyBureauandincoordination with the Department of Administration and building facility operators. Theidealcandidatewillpossessorhaveinterestinobtainingthefollowingknowledge,skills,andabilities: - experienceinprojectmanagementandcontractmonitoring; - knowledgeoftheASHRAEStandardsrelatedtoenergyconservationanddesign; - understandingofenergysystemdesign,layoutdrawings,construction,andsavingsanalysis; - knowledgeofHVACdesign,construction,andoperation; - abilitytoperformprojectlifecyclecostanalysis,net-presentvalueandenergysavingsestimating; and - abilitytocommunicateeffectivelyandprovideexcellentcustomerservicetomeettheneedsofdiverseaudiences. This Energy Engineering Analyst position includes a career ladder for professional development and pay progression. The position will be based with the Energy Office at DEQ’s headquarters in Helena, Montana and may be eligible for part-time telework. Minimum requirements include: · Bachelor’s degree in engineering with focus on electrical or mechanical engineering principles or equivalent related field experience in commercial HVAC and energy engineering. · Preferred experience with building, HVAC, and energy systems in the areas of design, construction, operation, and savings analysis. · Current valid Driver’s License and clean driving record in accordance with State of Montana Vehicle Use Policy.
