Job Overview
TE Connectivity’s Product Engineering Teams optimize existing products from information or input provided by marketing, customers, Operation Teams, Development Engineers or other employees. They maintain existing products, processes, and specifications including modifications for new applications consistent with manufacturing techniques and economies. They also initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality, and cost, while meeting customer requirements and may support and implement product extensions to existing platform products to meet specific customer requirements. They are the key experts in the products they are responsible for at TE.
The primary responsibility of Sustaining Product Engineering is to execute engineering support of production on NPI and production-level products. This includes launching NPIs, product extensions, expanded capacity, relocations, cost reduction projects (VAVE & COPQ), quote new parts, product improvements & design reviews for manufacturing, customer FFF analyses, and functional evaluations for requested deviations.
Data Connectivity Product Engineers need to have a broad background and varied skill set of the following nature.
- Possess a working knowledge of:
Connector engineering fundamentals
Terminal crimp design & review
Wire to Terminal termination (general)
Automotive HF & Data Transmission (Basic Understanding of SWR, Return Loss, Insertion Loss, System Impedance, and others)
Differentials and Coaxial products
Basics of VNA operation is a plus
Hipot Test fundamentals (DWV & IR)
Assembly Processes aptitude
Familiarity with Automotive Data Connectivity portfolios
Basics of stamping, plating, injection molding, are all a plus
Basic understanding of resins, metals, and processing costs to recommend substitutions and improve margins
Ability to solve problems in a methodical, logical, and disciplined manner
Possess a demonstrated technical ability and mechanical aptitude.
Ability to coordinate activities with various Functions while balancing Customer requirements and timing with project budget.
What your background should look like:
Required Skills:
BSME or similar 4-year engineering degree.
4 years engineering experience
Good project management skills with ability to multi-task
Basic understanding of problem-solving methodologies
Proficient in all Microsoft suite applications
Excellent written and oral communications
Fluency in English and Spanish required
Basic CAD skills are preferred.
