ManTech Linux System Administrator in Herndon, Virginia

ManTech is seeking a motivated, mission-oriented Linux Systems Administrator in Herndon, VA . As a Systems Administrator on our team, you will protect critical agency systems through development of network defense and incident response systems and tools. Join a program with great growth potential that seeks to detect, analyze, and defend against advanced attacks in real time, through implementation and configuration of emerging technologies that enable proactive cyber defense.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Design, configure and maintain virtual resources built using on-premises infrastructure and cloud services to support cyber defense mission

  • Install and configure tools that assist with virtualization management, storage management, network management, and vendor platform management

  • Install, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair Linux or Windows services and applications

  • Automate common tasks through creation of shell scripts or by leveraging infrastructure automation and orchestration tools

  • Operate and maintain Sponsor cyber defense network discovery systems and tools

  • Perform and validate patching and system backups of systems within span of control

  • Ensure data automation through cross domain solutions is operating efficiently

  • Monitor system performance and modify configurations accordingly to optimize performance

  • Manage access to cyber defense discovery tool infrastructure

  • Provide on-call support during non-standard business hours, as required

  • Maintain system baselines and configuration management items, including security event monitoring “policies” consistent with COTR and Sponsor management

  • Prepare status reports and attend review boards, as required

  • Proactively seek for opportunities to improve the processes, documentation, data, and metrics capture for the IT infrastructure maintained by the Network Intelligence Team.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in system administration

  • Experience working with common network communication protocols

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, computer science, cybersecurity, or similar related IT discipline, or an additional 4 years of related experience in lieu of degree

  • Active/current TS/SCI with polygraph clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Linux and Windows scripting

  • Experience with CRON jobs and scripting

  • Experience with installing, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing Linux operating system installations and VMWare virtual platforms

  • Experience with security risk management framework (RMF) associated with Sponsor infrastructure and application accreditation

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • TS/SCI with Polygraph

Physical Requirements: Ability to remain in a stationary position at least 50% of the time
