AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector.

AWS Partner Solutions Architects in many ways act as a strategic “keystone” bringing together several distinct groups within AWS that support AWS partners. This is a high visibility role where you collaborate with, and influence, both external stakeholders (AWS partner) and internal AWS teams like sales and service engineering. Moreover, you can be part of a team that is redefining the Enterprise IT industry. Amazon Web Services (AWS) is leading the next paradigm shift in cloud computing and is looking for an experienced solution architect for the role of a Senior Migration Partner Solutions Architect in the AWS Partner Organization.

Through this role you

• Will become a trusted AWS Technology Architect helping to develop and deliver on a migration strategy to support organizations as they transition to the cloud working with key strategic, global consulting partners.

• Will partner with Partner Development Managers to create and present meaningful customer-facing architectures of widely varying size and complexity and be a key member of a core team establishing customer migration best practices.

• Will drive revenue growth across a broad set of customers by identifying and closing large-scale IT Outsourcing renewals with the partners

• Will excel in collaborating with commercials, presales, service engineering and delivery teams.

• Will learn from the best and will capture and share best-practice knowledge amongst the AWS solutions architect community

In this role, you will need to be technically capable, enjoy learning and introducing new technology in order to help colleagues and customers embrace and adopt that technology, and be skilled at communicating technology strategies to customers in order to help colleagues and customers embrace and adopt new technologies. You will also need to be proficient at interacting, communicating and partnering with other departments within AWS such as our services teams, marketing, and professional services.

Position may require traveling (roughly 25%) to meet partners and customers.

Key job responsibilities

• Ensure success in building and modernizing applications, software and services onto AWS

• Build repeatable mechanisms, architectures, and playbooks to enable faster, predictable, and risk-free workload migrations and modernizations

• Define and execute on the technology migration strategy by engaging highly technical teams within the Partner and AWS (Solutions Architects, Technical Account Managers, professional services consultants and consulting/managed services partners)

• Capture and share best-practice knowledge amongst the AWS Solutions Architect community

• Guide and motivate the development of high-value customer facing guidance and best practices. Share customer feedback to internal teams to help drive the future of AWS

• Work with the team to drive POCs to completion, organize technical workshops, and facilitate the sharing of knowledge across AWS

• Build deep relationships with decision makers within customer accounts to enable them to be “Cloud advocates”

• Strategy & Innovation: articulate business/industry fundamentals (e.g., ROI, TCO, cost benefit analysis); understand regulations and operational excellence; familiarity with business strategy and trends in the IT industry

• Technology Breadth: demonstrate architectural best practices applied across a breadth of technologies to solve organizational problems, articulate views/roadmaps for future development, and understand the interaction between infrastructure, operations, and development

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience

  • 6+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience

  • Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a technical role within a sales organization

  • 5+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture and networking experience

  • Experience communicating across technical and non-technical audiences, including executive level stakeholders or clients

  • Experience working with system integrators in a global scale

  • Experience working on the public cloud

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $138,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $239,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
