Position Summary

The Software Engineer will provide software development services such as programming for projects and infrastructure support. The SE will design and develop enterprise software in Client and Web environments. The SE will develop, create, and modify general computer software or specialized utility programs; analyze user needs and develop software solutions; design software or customize software for use with the intention of optimizing operational efficiency.

The SE will work individually or as part of a team to analyze and design databases, managing websites to include designing, development, deploying, maintaining, testing, and performing quality assurance of web sites and software. The SE may reengineer systems as needed and develop and write programs to store, locate, and retrieve documents, data, and information. The SE will develop code, test, and debug new software or enhancements to existing software.

Required Experience

  • Active US Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph required

  • Bachelor's Degree

Demonstrated 7 years of hands-on experience total in all of the below:

  • Understanding in developing, testing, implementing and maintaining complex applications and relational databases while consulting with client to develop formal user requirements

  • System engineering life-cycle process for software development, web applications, and implementation

  • Tracking and resolving programming bugs

  • Explaining protocols, technical procedures and processes clearly and accurately to both technical and non-technical audiences; and

  • Demonstrated Extensive Experience in all of the following:

  • Translating user requirements into end-to-end design for applications/databases that may involve multiple interfaces to other applications or supporting database systems

  • Understanding of Internet/Web related protocols and technologies, including: Apache, Tomcat, Web Services, DNS, registrars, SSL, web hosting providers

  • Mitigating vulnerabilities and address findings on vulnerability reports (i.e. reports produced by Rapid 7); and

  • Ability to program proficiently in two or more of the applications or database programming languages relevant to the project (i.e. Ruby, Java & Python); and

  • Ability to plan, set goals and determine strategies for accomplishing results; monitors. and evaluates progress toward goals; and

  • Ability to write clear, concise and effective requirements documents, correspondence, procedures and reports in accordance with policies; and

  • Experience designing applications that are compliant with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act

Desired abilities:

  • Be able to guide other developers on the project

  • Provide training material for less experienced team members

  • Provide input of test cases and scenarios and later validate executed test results

  • Validate the requirements and deliverables of products/services that the team will produce

  • Understanding of configuration management systems (e.g. Git, Ansible) and concepts behind mass configuration

  • Collaborate with other IT disciplines (e.g. Storage, Platform, Middleware, and Application) to troubleshoot and resolve complex problems

  • Understanding of NoSQL and Caching Layers {e.g. AWS DynamoDB)
