AWS Network Services is looking for an experienced leader in our AWS Direct Connect organization to help us define product strategy and accelerate adoption of our services in the cloud. We are looking for a leader with strong technical and communication skills to drive product management across AWS Direct Connect’s offerings. As a Senior Product Manager - Technical (PMT) you will be responsible for managing the lifecycle of a product and be the voice of that product’s customer. You will own the roadmap, reporting and manage the business needs of the product. With AWS Network Services, you will be able to see and feel the impact of your work on your customers.

We’re looking for a PMT-ES that’s passionate about solving customer problems and has demonstrated success in turning ambiguous customer needs into successful products. Candidates will be comfortable working closely with and across agile teams. This is a high visibility, high impact role that will interact with all levels of AWS leadership. The right person is naturally customer centric and thrives in a fast-paced environment that requires strong technical and business judgment and solid communication skills. This role is for someone with a proven ability to execute both strategically and tactically.

Key job responsibilities

In this role you will bring deep networking background, software expertise, customer obsession, and prior knowledge of managing large scope customer projects. You will build a trusted relationship with an AWS customers by working directly with their key stakeholders, along with direct connect service teams, and other AWS engineering service teams. You are expected to work end-to-end across all teams to ensure the timely delivery of all the capacity needs of this customer. The most important attributes are the Product/Program Management skills: working through ambiguity, the ability to remove obstacles, identify and manage risk, ownership, networking concepts, BGP, L3, and evaluation of alternatives, communicating and escalating to leadership and across teams. This is a fast-paced environment where timely mechanisms and effective prioritization will be key to ensuring that committed customer dates stay on track. Therefore, being able to quickly analyze capacity requests, engage key stakeholders, define timelines, establish consistent communication and deliver deep dives/customer asks, are paramount to this role.

• Responsible for defining customer focused business strategy and tracking goals with AWS leadership. As a Senior Product Manager - Technical (PMT) you will be responsible for managing the lifecycle of a product delivery and being the voice of customer

• Work closely with commercial teams within the customer's organization to understand growth projections for AWS and Direct Connect, engage key stakeholders for delivery timelines and closely track delivery of these commitments

• Lead technical trainings, design reviews and engineering workshops for customers and engage engineering as and when necessary

• Lead weekly cadence with engineering teams within customer’s organization to understand their complex technical requirements and closely track delivery of these requirements. You will track customer program schedules, priorities and conduct risk management for customer commitments.

• Work closely with engineering teams and internal key stakeholders to drive customer priorities to completion.

• Partner with Finance teams to understand any changes to pricing/offering and its impact to business.

Basic Qualifications

  • BS degree in computer science, information systems or business

  • 5+ years of working as a Technical Product Manager experience

  • 5+ years of technical (software development, network development, IT, other related) experience

  • Experience in taking a product from conception & definition phase through engineering design and taking it to market

  • Experience delivering large-scale SaaS, PaaS or LaaS products where you are responsible for the full product lifecycle, from concept through GTM (go to market)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a quantitative/technical field such as computer science, engineering, statistics

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience working within teams delivering software products and features using agile methodologies

  • Demonstrated success translating complex qualitative and quantitative customer feedback into successful products, features and solutions.

  • Ability to manage timelines for associates' software & services, including the launch of new releases and marketing of the product

  • Full-stack technical acumen, including a solid understanding of distributed systems architectures, and the ability to apply this technical knowledge to ensure the quality, performance, and scalability.

  • Experience advising engineering leadership to influence internal and external engineering roadmap priorities.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $137,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $236,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
