SUMMARY OF POSITION:

This position will serve as the principal communications professional and strategist for the Penn State Health CEO and other members of the executive team as assigned. Act as a liaison between multiple constituents to assure accurate, timely, compelling and meaningful internal and external communications from the CEO’s Office. Research, develop and refine clear, concise, and timely communication materials including: speeches and presentations for internal and external audiences, speaking points and high-level complex correspondence to various stakeholders, including employees, physicians, governance boards, elected officials and donors.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide executive level writing, research, and editing support for traditional and digital communications from the CEO and other executive leaders as needed, including internal and external correspondence, printed and digital formats.

  • Plan and write presentation content, remarks, talking points and speeches for the CEO, including but not limited to: presentations for board meetings; presentations to donors and prospects; employee meeting presentations; remarks for standing executive-level meetings or other internal corporate forums where the CEO or other executives must present; press conferences and other media events and special events; presentations for professional meetings; and presentations to community groups.

  • Coordinate with administrative support staff and other Marketing and Communications staff to facilitate development of assets needed to accompany written materials, such as Powerpoint slides, photos, videos or animations.

  • Working with the Development and Marketing &Communications staff, lead the planning and development of communications from the CEO to be integrated into corporate communications and publications, including employee news channels, social media platforms and other publications for donors, alumni and other constituencies.

  • In collaboration with Development, Marketing &Communications, and other departments, facilitate the planning of the CEO’s role in organizational and public events, including coordination of timelines and preparation of scripts.

  • Contribute to the design, editing and production of final documents, such as the Strategic Plan and programs for events.

  • Write or edit internal and external website content related to the CEO and other executive team members, such as bios, and corporate core facts about the health system.

Working in collaboration with Governmental Relations staff, Chief Marketing Officer or Marketing and Communications VPs and the CEO’s chief of staff, proactively identify opportunities for CEO or other executive team members to advocate for and advance key health care, biomedical research and medical education policy issues in public forums (examples include newspaper and magazine opinion-editorial pieces and organizationally sanctioned social media platforms).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required.

  • Five (5) years of job related experience required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Master's Degree in Professional Writing is highly desired.

  • Experience in an academic medical center environment is preferred.
