Guardian Life Business Intelligence Analyst III in Holmdel, New Jersey
Overview
Individuals within the Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst III role deliver business intelligence & reporting solutions using a set of very efficient processes. In addition, BI analysts fulfill ongoing ad-hoc request demands and look for self-service solutions. They work closely with other CGM data, reporting and analytics units, business partners and IT leaders to identify, prioritize, implement, and communicate the appropriate reporting solutions. It is essential that BI Analysts build an understanding of the CGM organization at a level of detail that enables them to provide best in class reporting solutions. They provide data that is accurate, congruent and reliable, and ensure the information is easily available to users for direct consumption or integration with other systems. BI Analysts educate and train business partners and clients to use the data as an analytical tool, displaying the information in new forms and content for analysis and option exploration.
BI Analysts work with users to understand and determine business requirements, priorities, define key performance indicators (KPI), and develop BI and data warehouse (DW) strategy. They conduct analyses of functional business processes and functional business requirements and participate in the development of business cases in the support of process changes. This includes working with business and development teams to design, and document dashboards, alerts, and reports.
BI Analysts understand how data is turned into information and knowledge and how that knowledge supports and enables key business processes. They must have an in-depth understanding of the business environment and an interest in going beyond the obvious, delving into the source, the definition, philosophy, and foundational roots of a data element to create information. They must work well within a team environment.
You Will:
Provide on-going delivery of recurring reporting solutions.
Respond timely to ongoing new ad-hoc requests and look for optimal ways to deliver.
Provide automations of existing processes; using the optimal technology and processes.
Work on complex and multi-functional IT and business intelligence solutions.
Work on multiple tasks/projects as team member or leader or functional lead.
Participate in workstream planning process including inception, technical design, development, testing and delivery of BI solutions.
Participate in project management estimation process.
Work with internal and external customers and IT partners to develop and analyze business intelligence needs.
Provide input to business requirements for the design of solutions.
Interpret business requirements and identifies optimum BI solutions to meet needs.
Identify and provides input to new technology opportunities that will have an impact on the Enterprise wide BI systems.
Design Institute-wide “views” and custom reports.
Perform analysis for a wide range of requests using data in different formats and from various platforms.
Research business problems and create models that help analyze these business problems.
Provide input to the development of information quality metrics.
Research tools, frameworks and mechanisms for data analytics.
Talk to vendors to stay on top of new technologies, pricing & customer applicability.
Participate in vendor evaluations.
Provide input to standards, policies and procedures for the form, structure, and attributes of the BI tools and systems.
Design and deliver end-user training and training materials.
Train users to transform data into productive information and to use correctly.
Provide guidance, training, and problem-solving assistance to other team members.
You Have:
Typically requires a minimum of 4-6 years of Business Analysis or related technical experience.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Management or specialized training/certification. Or equivalent work experience.
Good understanding of database concepts and data warehousing concept are required.
Solid experience with RDBMS; strong SQL skills required.
Experience with ETL and data blending tools (Informatica, Syncsort, Alteryx)
Experience with BI and Data Visualization tools (Business Objects/Tableau/Qlikview/Cognos etc.)
Moderate to high development usage of Microsoft Access and Excel;
Familiarity with Hadoop, Hive, SQL Workbench, Hue etc. preferred.
Demonstrable ability to create reports from existing databases and non-relational data sources
Functional Skills
Excellent knowledge of supported business functions, systems, and transactions
Familiar with technology system processes, reporting functions, and methodologies
Location
- Two days a week at a Guardian location in Bethlehem, PA, Holmdel, NJ or New York, NY.
Salary Range:
$67,450.00 - $110,815.00
The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
