CIBC Associate / Director, FSG – FX Sales in Hong Kong, Hong Kong

JOB PURPOSE

Role is responsible for effective coverage of the FX & FX Options business within CIBC’s Financial Solutions Group (“FSG”) in the Asia Time zone. The incumbent will join an experienced FX Sales Team in Asia to develop real money, central banks, asset managers, macro funds and various other clients’ dealing into Asia.

This role is an integral part of the FSG team and will work across geographies to ensure a consistent coverage program is in place for both Global and Asian clients. He/ She will partner with clients to understand their objectives, identify and analyze the risks they face, design solutions, and deliver products to respond to their needs.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Primary accountability is to contribute to revenue generation of the FSG team in the following ways:

  • Connect with North American colleagues and develop North American (especially Canadian) clients’ FX & Options dealing into Asia time zone.

  • Identify and onboard new clients that fit CIBC’s trading capabilities and risk appetite.

  • Execute FX trades smoothly across channels (phone calls, chats, various electronic platforms).

  • Plan and organize client meetings and business trips, establish strong connection with both working and senor level contacts.

  • Help generate market commentaries, bespoke color, and trade ideas for client distribution in collaboration with trading, strategy and sales colleagues.

  • Drive essential trading and regulatory documentation initiatives in collaboration with onboarding and legal colleagues.

  • Expand CIBC’s E-Commerce FX franchise.

  • Cross-sell CIBC’s products with Global FX, Fixed Income, Rates, Commodities, Corporate Sales colleagues.

CROSS-FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

  • Interacts on a regular basis with internal Risk and Advisory staff to ensure that proposed transactions comply with internal risk policies and industry regulations.

  • Collaborates with traders and originators in the execution of transactions.

COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • As an employee of CIBC, the incumbent must comply with all applicable CIBC and Line of Business policies, standards, guidelines and controls.AUTHORITIES/DECISION RIGHTS

  • This role initiates and manages the execution of vanilla and structured transactions, evaluating and prioritizing transactions based on the rate of return on regulatory capital, probability of closing, ease of repeat transactions, and number of potential alternative applications.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Good understanding of FX and markets.

  • Understanding of regulatory and compliance framework of global foreign exchange markets

  • Demonstrated marketing and relationship building skills.

  • Strong interest in Global Macro.

  • Self-motivated and organized to drive personal and team initiatives.

  • Proactive to identify revenue opportunities and make suggestions on how things can be done better.

  • Strong Team player.

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast moving market.

  • Role typically requires 2-10 years of relevant experience.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Intense, fast-paced, high-stress work environment with tight deadlines and high demands.

  • Transaction-driven work schedule with unpredictable and occasionally long hours.

  • Some travel.

  • Highly collaborative work environment; over 50% of role is team-based.

  • Position is located on the open concept trading floor.
