Citigroup Senior Vice President, Business Manager – Hong Kong Markets Business Execution Team in Hong Kong, Hong Kong

The Business Execution team is responsible for driving the Hong Kong Markets franchise and client strategy all the while promoting a robust risk and control environment.

The Senior Vice President will be responsible to coordinate and lead projects, drive business initiatives and be responsible for usage of the firms’ resources including headcount management, balance sheet usage and profitability. The successful candidate will also conduct business continuity planning, develop presentation materials and other performance metrics, as necessary.

Responsibilities:

Business Execution

  • Support Senior Management by contributing as a thought leader to on-going process improvements across Markets.

  • Develop content for internal and external presentations, create actionable insights and lead business strategy execution.

  • Work with Sales heads to review Client metrics, Competitive positioning, and close Wallet gaps.

  • Lead and coordinate the implementation of New Product capabilities from planning to execution.

  • Review and optimize utilization of firm resources such as the Balance sheet, Market data, Brokerage expenses and Technology work slate.

  • Plan Client events within budget working closely with external and internal service providers.

  • Drive efficiency / productivity/ cost savings initiatives in partnership with the senior management team and other functional partners.

  • Construct and deliver internal and external business messaging following Public Affairs and Compliance policy and guidance.

  • Manage onboarding, training and offboarding of staff partnering with Human Resources.

Risk and Control

  • Assist Markets Management in promoting a pre-emptive Risk and Controls culture across Hong Kong Markets.

  • Proactively monitor the Sales and Trading activities for emerging risks and establish robust controls across products.

  • Design new controls, enhance existing controls and introduce new controls to manage operational, credit and market risk.

  • Drive projects around automation and reduction of manual touchpoints and right placement of business activities.

  • Lead internal stakeholders in developing responses to regulatory surveys, exams, and reviews.

  • Review changes in Hong Kong regulatory environment and work with products to conduct impact analysis in response to the changes.

  • Investigate issues, perform root cause analysis of operational risk events, and ensure delivery of remediation actions / Corrective Action Plans.

  • Present in meetings to explain Risk/Control metrics and implement plans for reducing inherent risk and mitigating residual risk.

  • Participate in Business continuity drills and exercises to ensure Operational Resilience.

  • Assess business decisions against risk stripes, demonstrate consideration for the firm's reputation, its clients, and assets.

  • Manage Trading floor activities ensuring efficiency and safety and soundness for the business.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in financial services

  • Experience in Business Management or in a support function covering a Sales or Trading product like Fixed Income or Equities.

  • Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication with experience in preparing materials for Senior management.

  • Experience working in global and complex settings with multiple stakeholders.

  • Good understanding of financial products and governance requirements of a bank or a broker dealer.

  • Ability to thrive in ambiguous and changing environments and demonstrates both a flexible and resilient approach.

  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple stakeholders and organizations – pushes self and colleagues to higher levels of performance by actively listening and engaging in constructive dialogue.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and drive large scale, complex business initiatives –taking initiatives from concept to execution.

  • Strong organization, project management and time management skills with the ability to work independently or collectively in a team of diverse skill sets and cultures.

  • Experience in escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency.

  • Diligence and ability to prioritize.

  • Mandarin fluency is an added advantage.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience

  • Master's degree preferred.
