Queen's Health System Lab Assistant II - Pathology (Call-in, Varied Shifts) in Honolulu, Hawaii
RESPONSIBILITIES
I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Performs routine laboratory procedures in one (1) or more of the following areas: Triage, Cytology Prep, Histology, Oncology Lab Services, Molecular Diagnostics/Biorepository or Phlebotomy.
• Performs duties in accordance with policies and procedures as established by the department and The Queen’s Medical Center.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking.
• Continuous: walking.
• Frequent: sitting, standing, twisting body, lifting and carrying usual weight of 20 pounds, reaching below shoulder, repetitive arm/hand motion, frequent gripping of an object.
• Occasional: stooping/bending, kneeling, climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground, squatting, lifting and carrying weight up to 10 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 10 pounds of force, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods.
III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
• Associate’s degree with post-secondary courses in biological sciences, chemistry and mathematics; or two (2) years post-secondary education including biological sciences, chemistry and mathematics.
• Associate’s degree in laboratory science preferred.
B. EXPERIENCE:
• One (1) year recent work experience in laboratory science, laboratory medicine or hospital setting preferred.
• Experience to demonstrate familiarity with computers, automated systems, and data entry.
