Job Title: Shipyard Pipe Fitter

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Shipyard Pipe Fitter to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing piping systems on various types of ships. This role requires a strong understanding of blueprints, technical drawings, and marine safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics to understand the piping layout.

  • Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipes to required angles using hand and power tools.

  • Install, assemble, fabricate, maintain, and repair mechanical piping systems.

  • Inspect and test installed pipe systems and pipelines to check for leaks or damage.

  • Use a variety of tools and equipment including saws, cutting torches, pipe benders, and pipe threading machines.

  • Follow safety regulations and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.

  • Perform maintenance of pipe systems, including cleaning and replacing damaged sections.

  • Collaborate with other tradespeople such as welders, plumbers, and electricians to complete larger shipbuilding projects.

  • Document all work done, including any changes or modifications made to the original blueprints.

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest techniques and materials used in pipefitting.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in pipefitting is preferred.

  • Proven experience as a pipe fitter, preferably in a shipyard or marine environment.

  • Strong knowledge of marine safety procedures and regulations.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.

  • Proficiency with pipefitting tools and equipment.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Physical stamina and the ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.

  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $35.00
