Senior Revenue Accountant. at Somatus



This person will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, integrity, and improvement of the Company’s revenue accounting process. The role requires strong general ledger skills, SOX compliance, and US GAAP technical accounting skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare support for complex revenue journal entries, including documentation for the use of estimates, the impact of changes in estimates, and associated file retention.

  • Maintain, modify, document, and enforce the Company’s revenue chart of accounts

  • Design and implement procedures to ensure adequate control over the reconciliation of general ledger accounts and the design, implementation, and maintenance of general ledger reports

  • Write, modify and generate general ledger reports as needed

  • Supervise, document, and test any modifications to the Company’s accounting systems related to revenue

  • Improve general ledger operations – posting, reporting, and balancing – to drive faster, more accurate and complete monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings

  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, controls, and systems to ensure the proper performance of the duties associated with revenue accounting

  • Populate and modify audited financial statement notes as they relate to revenue

Required Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field

  • At least 3 years’ experience in an Accounting or Finance role

  • Experience with the maintenance and operation of general ledger software

  • Experience with report-writing software


  • CPA certification

  • Public accounting experience

  • Public company experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of US GAAP accounting principles and procedures

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel including the use of pivot tables, v-lookups, macros, as if functions, etc.

  • Knowledge of the healthcare industry

  • Strong time management and prioritization skills

  • Able to maintain confidentiality and use discretion when privy to sensitive information

  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to manage one's own individual projects

  • Present oneself in a professional manner and able to interact with all levels of the organization and outside contacts

Physical Requirements

  • This job operates in a professional setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Normal manual dexterity is required.

  • Normal speaking and hearing abilities to interact with others in an office environment, over telephone or other video conferencing platform.

  • The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and reach with hands and arms and continuously repeat the same hand, arm finger motion many times as in typing.
