Queen's Health System Wound & Ostomy Nurse Clinician (Uncertified) - Patient Care Consult Services (Full-Time, 40, Day) in Honolulu, Hawaii
RESPONSIBILITIES
I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
• Collaborates with other health care team members in the development of an effective patient education program.
• Under the supervision a Certified Wound & Ostomy Nurse Clinician, provides consultation and direct care to patients with stomas, pressure ulcers, fistulas, and other wounds.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Essential: standing, sitting, walking, stooping/bending, kneeling, climbing stairs, finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking, lifting and carrying usual weight of 10 pounds up to 45 pounds, pushing/pulling usual weight of 20 pounds up to 50 pounds of force, reaching above, at and below shoulder level, frequent gripping of an object.
• Frequent: repetitive arm/hand motions.
• Occasional: crawling, walking on uneven ground, squatting, twisting body, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods.
• Operates various hospital equipment, machines and instrumentations, computer, telephone, beeper.
III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
• Exposed to body fluids, blood products, secretions, communicable diseases, chemotherapy drugs.
• Frequent exposure to needles.
• Staff may be exposed to physical and verbal abuse/violent acts by patients, families and visitors.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A. Education/Certification and Licensure:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing.
• Current Hawaii State license as a Registered Nurse.
• Must obtain one (1) of the following wound certifications by the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCB) within two (2) years of entrance into the position:
o Certified Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurse (CWOCN)
o Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON)
• Current certification in Basic Life Support at the Healthcare Professional Level.
B. Experience:
• Two (2) years acute care nursing experience.
