Position Summary:

The Senior Financial Accountant will deliver financial accounting and statutory reporting function within CTD Horsham. This role will implement and monitor internal controls ensuring compliance with Thermo Fisher Scientific guidelines and standards to support accurate and timely financial accounting of CTD Horsham.

Working closely with Divisional Controllership, you’ll align with Corporate Accounting policies and fully engage with the EMEA FP&A team as well as being a key member of the CTD EMEA controllership team.

Delivery of the objectives will be achieved through deployment and introduction of working practices and innovative, value adding finance processes & tools.

Success will be proven through improved processes, compliance with financial regulations and controls, ensuring accurate and timely period end financial closes, providing meaningful analysis towards achieving growth & profitability targets and improving our services for our customers, our company and ultimately the patients we serve!

What will you do?

Ensure that the Horsham entities’ accounting is performed as stated in company procedures, financial close schedules and in accordance with US GAAP, SOX and statutory laws.

Technical accounting research of complex issues for review of monthly financial results for Horsham, ensuring accurate accounting treatment and compliance with US GAAP, company policies and statutory regulations.

Review and improve the quality of accounting activities and processes such as reconciliations and journal entries, ensure accounting activities are well supported, detailed and audit ready.

Actively support the Finance and Accounting team during month-ends by preparing and posting journals, loading data to HFM, preparing supplementary schedules, supporting on query resolution and ensuring the close schedules are adhered to whilst maintaining the accuracy of financial results.

Supporting with the implementation of new operation and financial software within Horsham.

Prepare and lead direct and indirect tax compliance and manage relationships with corporate tax teams as well as local authorities.

Driving site compliance with treasury and tax related relationships with corporate teams and external partners and supporting both internal and external audits

Prepare UK statutory accounts for review by the Senior Manager Accounting and Sr Finance Director

Identify and drive improvement initiatives to ensure enough support for changing business dynamics; full accountability to understand needs, development of implementation plans and the corresponding execution

Provide advice and guidance to business on finance related matters, ensuring consistency with Finance policies and standards

Provide support to the Sr Manager Accounting in Basel, sharing knowledge and expertise

Who we are looking for:

Recognised accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)

Has a strong background in technical accounting including indirect tax, VAT and reconciliation working with goods ideally working in an international environment

Exposure to statutory accounting

Experience of reviewing financial data and ability to report to senior partners to influence business decisions

Identify process and control gaps and champion improvement initiatives

Excellent skills with MS Excel, Power BI and MS PowerPoint are required

Highly desirable

Experience preparing statutory returns is highly desirable
