DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

We are seeking energetic and self-motivated individuals who will function in a Contract Administrator role, to provide contract compliance support within Houston Public Works.

Must possess a strong attention to detail along with the ability to identify potential contract-related risks. Uses analytical ability to obtain and interpret data and compiles complex reports in a logical manner to select the correct action.

The Contract Administrator duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Monitors and reports on cost controls, timeliness, quality and minority and women owned business enterprise (MWBE) participation goals performance measures with end users on all department contracts.

  • Interprets contract documents and assists in the resolution of disputed issues.

  • Follows up with management on contract compliance issues and works with operational personnel to ensure compliance with agreements.

  • Works with external vendors and with other City departments to resolve any problems regarding contract agreements.

  • Coordinates with other City departments on issues related to processing contract documents.

  • Research contract issues and prepares information relating to contracts, agreements and practices; drafts correspondence to various individuals relating to established agreements.

  • Performs other duties/special projects as requested

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. There are no major sources of discomfort, i.e., essentially normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature and air conditions

This is a Department of Houston Public Works Position at the Tier III Level.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Government or closely related field.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Two years of contract compliance experience are required.

Professional experience related to the type of work to be performed may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:

None.

Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.
