Director of Talent and HR
The Director of Talent is responsible for ensuring that Etoile Academy has the highest quality talent serving our students and families. As an organization with ambitious goals, talent is a critical component to our success. The Director of Talent is a member of the Home Office Team and will oversee Talent Strategy, Talent Development, Talent Recruitment and Acquisition, Onboarding, Retention, Employee Evaluations, Talent Operations and Systems with support from the Superintendent. The Director of Talent will also coach and develop the Talent and HR Coordinator and oversee all HR at the organization.
Responsibilities
Lead the Hiring Planning and Execution
Lead Talent step back sessions with Network team and principals to analyze talent data from previous season, implement improvements, and plan for the upcoming talent season;
Regularly update and improve a comprehensive talent calendar with key metrics and action steps to meet all hiring goals;
In collaboration with Talent/HR Coordinator, work with hiring managers for status updates on filling positions;
Work with Talent Coordinator and hiring managers to maintain integrity in filling postings on designated timeline/ contacting prospective candidates;
Work with Talent Coordinator and hiring managers to write comprehensive JD for each position (or update existing ones);
Coach and develop hiring managers on selection of high-quality candidates
Build a Strong Talent Pipeline
Work with Talent Coordinator to plan and develop strategic plans, goals, and actions steps to improve Etoile's talent pipeline and expand our current recruiting efforts;
Ensure the Talent Coordinator is sourcing and screening talent in line with Etoile's existing approach, as well as identifying areas for improvement;
Set goals and priorities for candidate sourcing; works for partnerships; monitors sourcing and strategic decision on effectiveness of the sourcing pool;
Work to establish new relationships and pipelines for prospective teachers including (but not limited to) UTSA, Trinity, TFA, City Year, Referrals, UTPA, LinkedIn;
Plan and execute Talent events to attract new candidates: school tours, recruitment fairs, open houses;
Work directly with marketing department to enhance social media/all media outreach
Lead initiatives to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organization;
Implement strategies to attract and retain a diverse workforce
Budget Management
- Manage Talent and HR budget and ensure line items are within 5% variance
Supporting Staff and Ensuring HR Compliance
Work with the HR Coordinator to ensure year round HR communications plan including robust and supportive onboarding, regular communications about employee benefits, and opportunities for employees to connect with and share feedback with HR;
Stay informed about labor laws and regulations to ensure the organization's compliance;
Develop and enforce HR policies and procedures;
Work with the HR Coordinator to Plan and lead basic HR onboarding for new staff
Ensure our HR Coordinator works with our vendors to oversee all HR including benefits, compensation, personnel management, and any resignations/terminations;
Provide resources to staff so they can thrive at Etoile and bring their best and highest selves to our students and families;
Develop and implement initiatives to enhance employee engagement and satisfaction;
Collaborate with other departments to create a positive workplace culture
Strategic Planning
Contribute to overall organizational strategy by aligning talent initiatives with network objectives;
Provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership;
Provide updates to the Board of Directors on talent strategy aligned with our strategic plan and growth;
Develop and implement succession plans to identify and groom future leaders;
Identify key positions and talent pools critical for the organization's success
Goals
95% hired by May 30 each year
At least 85% of new staff report successful and supportive onboarding experience
At least 85% of staff believe Etoile recruits “top talent”
At least 85% annual staff retention
95% of hiring managers report feeling trained and prepared for leading the hiring process
Successful completion of specific action plans regarding increased sourcing and hiring of certain roles

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher required
A minimum of two years experience in talent and/or HR
Measurable evidence of results in previous positions
A commitment to working with underserved, urban youth
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with a diverse staff
Open to feedback, desire to continue development as a professional and willingness to take responsibility for student outcomes and achievement
