The Louis A. Faillace Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciencesof theMcGovern Medical SchoolatUTHealth Houstonoffers an extraordinary opportunity to join the inpatient faculty at the UTHealth Houston Behavioral Sciences Campus, atThe John S. Dunn Behavioral Sciences Center. This 264-bed psychiatric hospital constitutes a unique partnership between the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and theTexas Health and Human Services Commission. Our 264-bed inpatient facility is located in theTexas Medical Center. In addition to providing excellent patient care, this role will also take the lead to help champion a NEW Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship Program. This program will be accredited by theAccreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.

Selected candidates are expected to contribute to the Department’s mission of education, research, and patient care; and actively participate in the teaching, and supervision of medical students, residents, and fellows.

Geriatric Psychiatry Fellows will be expected to develop expertise in the prevention, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of geriatric illnesses using systems-based care throughout the continuum of care. This position also provides exceptional teaching opportunities for McGovern Medical School students as part of the academic Psychiatry Training program.

Requirements: M.D. or equivalent; Licensed or License eligible in the State of Texas; Board Eligible/ Board Certified in Psychiatry and Geriatric Psychiatry.

Depending upon the applicant’s qualifications and credentials, faculty appointments at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor rank will be offered. Salary levels are very competitive and also carry excellent fringe benefit packages. The Physician Education Loan Repayment Program opportunity is available for eligible inpatient faculty.
