DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The City of Houston, Human Resources Department, is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, customer-focused, and technologically savvy Human Resources Generalist. The Human Resources Generalist will work collaboratively within the Human Resources Operations, Shared Services Division, supporting various City of Houston Departments as a business partner and point of contact to provide superior human resources services.

The candidate selected for the position will be responsible for the following:

  • Assists with the preparation and processing of personnel actions via HROne SuccessFactors – Employee Central (EC).

  • Reviews and maintains logs, reports, and tracks actions in EC to ensure successful and timely upload.

  • Creating and maintaining departmental Organizational Management (OM) activities.

  • May serves as the department’s Drug Test Coordinator and monitors the Alere Datalink system.

  • Will serve as the department’s Houston Employee Assessment and Review (HEAR) Administrator.

  • May assist in other areas such as the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and Temporary Services Coordinator.

  • Will interpret human resources policies and procedures.

  • May perform other duties as assigned and participate in special projects as needed to ensure efficient operation of the unit.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. There are no major sources of discomfort in a normal office environment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Social Science, Liberal Arts, or a closely related field.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

One year of related professional experience in human resources is required. Pertinent experience at the professional level may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

PREFERENCES

Preference may be given to the following candidates:

-- Knowledge and or experience with HROne SuccessFactors

-- Knowledge and or experience with SAP Organizational Management

-- Moderate to Advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite (**Excel)

Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.
