Description
Responsibilities:
• Support assigned business groups (FOCs) by advising and counseling employees and managers regarding HR related matters to arrive at a resolution in an acceptable timeframe based on each matter. Interpret and apply HR policies, procedures, and programs, ensuring consistent application while working with FOC management to provide solutions that balance both business and employee needs while staying in compliance with company policy and applicable laws.
• Support to local HR, at assigned FOCs, includes various levels of the following, as needed:
o Coordinate with FOC management and local HR to manage and resolve complex employee relations issues. Conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations and make recommendation for resolutions. Proactively communicate status to direct manager, and all involved parties, to ensure continued alignment and progress.
o Conduct workplace investigations for supported FOCs, maintain detailed notes and documentation.
o Interpret, analyze, and advise based on each circumstance, related policies, and applicable laws and provide timely feedback to the FOC.
o Work collaboratively with the Employee Experience (REX) Center to address escalated inquiries, issues, and employee concerns within the scope of the HRBP role.
o Ability to recognize when to escalate matters, to Director HR Operations or HRBP Supervisor, or incorporate other specialty areas, in a timely manner, within Shared Service model processes.
o Advise local HR during the constructive/progressive discipline and termination processes when requested.
o Review involuntary terminations requests or guidance from local HR.
o Execute corporate procedures to ensure key activities are compliant with all state and federal employment laws and regulations (e.g., FMLA, ADA, EEO and FLSA).
o Work with supported FOCs to review questionable background checks and drug screen results.
o Oversee and manage RIFs or layoffs at supported FOCs.
o Assist local HR with Retirement process and support corporate processes in a timely manner.
• Facilitate assigned activities in support of organizational change management initiatives; for example, training, coaching and communications for assigned business groups.
• Monitor and analyze FOC turnover to develop, recommend and implement strategies to improve retention and mitigate undesirable turnover.
• Manage organizational changes, mergers, operational support processes as it pertains to HR and Dayforce support.
• Assist Corporate HR Leads by coordinating communications with local HR, at supported FOCs, to ensure messaging and clear communication with the field on various topics.
• Work closely with management and local HR to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
• Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization's hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, past legal history, and the administrative practices related to those factors.
• Coordinates with LOA Administrator(s), as needed
OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
• Support fellow HRBPs during time off or staff shortages to ensure proper coverage for our FOCs.
• Special HR related projects and assignments
Requirements
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in human resource management, Business Administration, etc. or equivalent work experience in a related field required.
• 10+ years experience in HR.
• 7+ years employee relations experience, working independently on investigations and HR recommendations.
• Minimum of seven (7) years working with multi-state locations.
• Experience working with multiple companies, subsidiaries or within a Shared Service Model preferred.
• SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to connect various aspects of employee relations items to correctly advise and make related decisions.
• Strong ability to manage multiple tasks and shift from one Company’s practices to another, including union/non-union issues that may arise concurrently.
• Comfortability with acting in an advisor role and understanding that the decision making is conducted by local HR and management in most cases.
• Proficient knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws/regulations (e.g., EEO, FLSA, FMLA, ADA, etc.).
• Track record of quickly forming trusted advisor partnerships with business leaders to provide day to day support on all employee management concerns, situations, and questions.
• High level of problem-solving skills and strong intuition.
• Expert verbal and written communication skills in English — bilingual English-Spanish skills desirable.
• Proficient organizational and project-management skills, including the ability to meet demanding, evolving, and overlapping deadlines.
• Proficiency in use of Windows-based business tools; specifically, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word; Dayforce; proficiency in ServiceNow is desirable.
• Experience in a manufacturing or other environment with a large hourly (blue-collar) employee population and multiple locations preferred. Union experience preferred.
• Demonstrated success in conducting employee investigations on highly sensitive matters such as sexual harassment, age discrimination, etc.
• Demonstrated experience working with inside/outside counsel and company management (Corporate and field) to identify proper course of action and resolve issues.
• Ability to develop, plan and implement short and long-term goals.
• Ability to produce, analyze and interpret technical documentation such as HR policies, HR compliance reports, HR metrics, etc.
