TEKsystems Installation (Copper/Fiber) Technician in Houston, Texas
Description:
This individual will have experience with copper & fiber cable from installing cables, splicing cables, fluke testing cables and following the industry standards when conducting inspections and walk throughs. They will be be providing guidance in equipment rooms, building, and within the data center. This individual must have strong communication skills as he will be interacting with different customers of IT.

Role Scope:
Review parts submittals to ensure that parts being installed comply with MDA standards and Project Manuals
Conduct Cable Pathway Inspections and IDR/MDR Inspections to ensure that work on
Projects and MACs meets MDA Division 27 Standards and/or D5030 Design Guideline Elements
Attend Teams, Zoom, and On-Site meetings on behalf of MDA ITE/DVOPs
Perform IDR/MDR Surveys and existing field conditions surveys to determine accommodation requirements for Projects and MACS
Review Copper and Fiber Test Results for acceptance and activation approval
Review As-Built Drawings for acceptance
Troubleshoot downed links in IDR/MDRs and Data Centers
Complete fiber and copper runs request
Complete survey to determine length of cables needed
Test fiber patch cables prior to running (OTDR and scope)
Pre-label fiber and copper patch cables with complete pathways
(device-pathway-device)
Re-dress data cabinets after each new fiber and copper runs request
Demo patch cables on decommissioned links as needed
