Schlumberger Lead Civil Structural Engineer in Houston, Texas

We are a leading carbon capture technology company. We serve a range of carbon-emitting industries including cement, blue hydrogen, bio/waste-to-energy, and gas-to-power among others. Through our portfolio of projects, we are mitigating the environmental cost of industrial activity for a cleaner, more sustainable future. We see a daily growth in our market potential as a rising number of customers look to carbon capture utilization and storage (CCUS) and our company to solve their emissions challenges. SLB Capturi is one of the leading companies globally that has extensive knowledge of the entire CCUS value chain. We have many ongoing projects, from research and innovation, including pilot plant testing, to concept studies and to large EPC projects, both in Europe and in the United States. Today, we are delivering seven carbon capture units in Europe, with an accumulated capture capacity of 1 million tonnes of CO2.

The SLB-Capturi US team is seeking a highly qualified Lead Civil Structural Engineer. Reporting to SLB-Capturi Engineering Manager US, you will be responsible for the design, analysis, and integrity of various project structures and work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful integration and optimization of civil structural designs.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of civil structural design and analysis.

  • Oversee civil structural engineering projects from concept to completion, ensuring they meet quality, safety, and performance standards

  • Develop and implement testing protocols to validate the performance and reliability of civil structural engineering designs.

  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant civil structural codes, standards, and regulations.

  • Ensure civil structural engineering deliverables and design adhere to project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.

  • Evaluate customer inquiries and specifications to determine the appropriate material and design for the application.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams during project development, design, and installation.

  • Lead a multi-location team of civil structural engineers in Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) and Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage (CCUS) projects, studies or product development.

  • Develop, review, and ensure proposals contain clearly defined material, equipment, and delivery information.

  • Manage and develop a team of civil structural engineers by sharing your technical experience, providing company and individual training opportunities, and fostering a collaborative work environment.

  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement by implementing best practices and lessons learned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil structural engineering, or related field.

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in Civil Structural Engineering with a proven track record of delivering on commitments and managing engineering teams.

  • Proficient with various civil structural analysis software

  • Knowledgeable in IECC, ASCE, and other international codes and standards pertaining to civil structural engineering.

  • Works independently applying advance engineering techniques and analysis.

  • Strong technical knowledge in Civil Structural Engineering principles, processes, methods, and tools.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor engineering teams.

  • Meticulous attention to detail in design, testing, and documentation processes.

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

  • A self-starter that demonstrates a positive outlook and contributes to working in multicultural and multidisciplinary and collaborative environment.
