Research Coordinator

Description

The Research Coordinator supports the Anthropometry and Biomechanics Facility (ABF) group in the Human Physiology, Performance, Protection, and Operations - the lab group studying and supporting Extravehicular Activity (EVA) physiology, exercise physiology and countermeasures, and applied injury biomechanics. This position works closely with the management team and project technical leads to facilitate human research studies and engineering evaluations. The employee is responsible for overseeing lab space management (equipment tracking, calibrating, consumables, and organization), as well as project coordination (test readiness review documentation, test subject requests, etc.).

  • This position is grant funded and continuation is contingent upon future funding.

Duties:

  • Responsible for compliance with Safety, Health and Environmental plan; must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and all of the Company’s safety policies and rules and must be willing to report safety violations and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel.

  • Assists with human research studies, including coordinating/scheduling human test subjects, integration with stakeholders and collaborators, and assisting project lead with study oversight during all phases of the project.

  • Assists preparing grant proposals, directed study task synopses, and other proposals related to future project work.

  • Prepares purchase requisition documents and prepare supporting documents to establish subcontracts with collaborators, including statement of work (SOW), Justification for Other than Full and Open Competition (JOFOC), and market survey.

  • Assists with human research studies, including coordinating/scheduling human test subjects, integration with stakeholders and collaborators, and assisting project lead with study oversight during all phases of the project.

  • Coordinates and leads preparing and maintaining study/project documentation, including Institutional Review Board protocols, test plans, test readiness review packages, schedules, progress reports, and presentations.

  • Demonstrates a positive problem-solving attitude with an enthusiasm for working as part of an exceptional team.

  • Works with the ABF Technical Area Lead and project leads to implement research activities outlined in strategic roadmaps.

  • Serves as a test subject for protocol and hardware evaluations on a volunteer basis and performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Life Science, Engineering, Human Factors, or a related field.

  2. Experience in a fast-paced professional environment, supporting multiple projects.

  3. Ability to conduct human health and performance research, including physiological monitoring and/or kinematic analysis.

  4. Ability to support NASA or other government contracts.

  5. Proficient with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and project management software at intermediate to advanced working level.

  6. Effective written and verbal communication skills, both formal and informal, including oral presentations.

  7. Interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member.

  8. Works well with a multidisciplinary team.

  9. Works independently with minimal oversight and support multiple projects.

  10. Ability to communicate with stakeholders and other strategic partners of KBR.

Desired:

Knowledge of NASA mission operations and hardware relevant to human health countermeasures and to EVA.
