Are you a strategic, innovative facilities leader ready to help clients optimize their business?
Sodexo is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to serve as the primary in-house engineering consultant for a large portfolio of work for an energy client in downtown Houston, TX. This position will support ongoing commissioning and commissioning planning for construction projects and will be the lead in-house consultant for various infrastructure projects in large commercial properties.
The Senior Electrical Engineer will provide technical expertise in electrical engineering for construction and renovation projects and existing electrical systems.Ideally, the right candidate will also have experience with conveyance systems, elevators, and escalators and experience with building and lighting controls. The role involves offering technical support to the design and construction team, and our client's in-house technical and planning teams, and will collaborate with facilities management teams.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in electrical engineering within Class A commercial buildings, with a strong understanding of the service aspects encountereddaily. The Senior Electrical Engineer will collaborate with the design and construction team, commissioning agents, consultants, architects, and other engineers to support client initiatives, enhance operational effectiveness, improve client satisfaction, anddrivehigh-quality outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
20% - Provide technical guidance for power distribution (normal and emergency), fault studies, overcurrent coordination studies, arc flash studies, lighting, life safety, fire alarm and telecommunications systems. Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate electrical systems into new construction and renovation projects. Develop and review electrical design standards, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, building codes, and industry best practices.
20% - Manage electrical engineering projects from inception through completion, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation. Conduct site assessments, feasibility studies, and technical evaluations to determine project scope and requirements. Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and consultants to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
20% - Perform regular assessments of existing electrical systems to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and safety. Identify and implement upgrades, repairs, or replacements of electrical components and systems as needed. Provide technical support and troubleshooting for electrical issues within healthcare facilities.
20% - Ensure all electrical systems and projects adhere to relevant healthcare standards, including NFPA, NEC, and OSHA regulations. Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures to protect patients, staff, and visitors from electrical hazards. Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes affecting healthcare facility electrical systems.
20% - Work closely with the facilities management team to develop and execute long-term maintenance and capital improvement plans. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other team members. Prepare and present detailed reports, proposals, and project documentation to stakeholders.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; Professional Engineer (PE) license is helpful but not required for this position.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical engineering, focusing on controls and systems in large Class A commercial properties.
Strong knowledge of electrical design standards, healthcare regulations, and building codes.
Strong knowledge of building controls, systems, and conveyance systems
Strong knowledge of commissioning programs, standards, and processes.
Proficiency in typical construction management applications.
Excellent project management, team, and communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Strong presentation skills
