TEKsystems IT Engineer in Huntsville, Alabama
Job Purpose At lower levels of responsibility, designing and installing computer hardware configurations, installing software and networking systems, troubleshooting network and software issues, installing high-level software security systems, training staff on newly installed hardware and software systems, fixing hardware, software, and networking issues, responding to general IT requests, and ensuring security software is kept up to date. At higher levels of responsibility, Analyzing existing computer systems and making recommendations for upgrades and improvements, developing and overseeing the installation of systems, which include software and hardware, performing tests and troubleshooting, as well as quality assurance, implementing safety procedures and data recovery plans, recruiting, training, and evaluating staff members, developing user manuals, as well as policies, procedures, and safety protocols, collaborating with other departments and professionals in the development of IT systems, ensuring all installations, maintenance, and upgrades are carried out on schedule and to client specifications, delegating tasks and developing budgets and work schedules, staying up-to-date with field advancements and ensuring the team receives refresher training as well. Key Responsibilities • Responsible for ensuring reliability and availability of individual components/services comprising the support domain. • Provides guidance with tier I support as needed. Provide tier II support for trouble ticket and user requests as needed. • Proactively monitor system components and take necessary actions to ensure availability. • Provide support and training to users needing to use products provided by support domain. Trains novice members of the support team. • Document build and usage procedures of supported system components in the domain. Additional Responsibilities • Maintain VMware infrastructure. • Maintain Dell Powervault, EqualLogic, and Unity network storage infrastructure. • Support Dell switching infrastructure utilized for server storage backplane. • Perform Linux and Microsoft Windows system administration, including installing, configuring, monitoring, managing and maintaining physical and virtual servers. • Ability to investigate and resolve problems through research with minimal supervision. • Provide leadership status updates and provide cross training to other CSR team members. • Administer Windows Group Policy / Active Directory. • Datacenter / Lab experience (designing/maintaining).
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Required Minimum Qualifications • Experience supporting Linux or Windows system administration. • Experience designing and/or maintaining computing, storage, and network infrastructure. Preferred Qualifications • Active Secret Clearance. • DoD 8570 certification. • Experience with datacenter power systems, fiber optics, including 1553, Ethernet, and RS-232. • Ability to read, modify, and create interface control documents and schematics
