Ground Missile Defense (GMD) is the heart of the Missile Defense System and a key element of our nation’s defense against ballistic missile attacks.

The GMD Weapon System processes data from multiple sensors to identify and characterize the inbound ballistic missile threat, plans the best defensive solution, and launches the intercepting missiles to negate the threat.

The Work

The selected Software Engineer responsibilities include the development and support of the In-Flight Interceptor Communication Systems (IFICS) Data Terminal (IDT) and Phased Array IDT suite of products within the Missile Defense Agency’s (MDA) Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Weapons Systems (GWS) program. You will be responsible for writing code.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related STEM discipline and 5+ years experience or Master's degree in Computer Science or related STEM discipline and 3 years experience.

• Active U.S. DoD Secret clearance

• Recent GWS program experience

• Ability to understand and interpret requirements and test guidance to complete configuration item and product-level integration testing

• Demonstrated proficiency in analytical thinking and problem solving skills and Systems Thinking mindset

• Experience writing code and compiling software programs (i.e. C++, Java, Python).

• Familiar with debugging and troubleshooting software programs

• Excellent decision making and communication (written and verbal) skills

• Experience with Agile Scrum Test Lifecycle

• Ability to work in a collaborative, Agile IPT environment

• Ability and willingness to travel 10% to support business needs

Desired Skills:

• Experience in Integrated Digital Engineering Environments

• Experience in Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery Software Development

• Experience with continuous integration and delivery in accordance with DevSecOps processes and best practices

• Containerization and Software Implemented Servers Experience

• Experience writing automated tests

• Current GWS experience

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
