Senior Communications Systems Engineer

UAS Teaming Communications

JHNA is currently seeking a talented Senior Communications Network Systems engineer to support the Intelligent Teaming Branch of the Technology Development Directorate of Aviation and Missile Command at Ft Eustis, VA.

This position can site on site at Fort Eustis, VA or Huntsville, AL. This is a hybrid support role with allowance for 2-3 days of telework.

This individual will support the branch in the establishment of lower Air Tier data and communications networks and its integration with the Joint Unified Network to enable advanced teaming activities. You will be assisting in the development of computer equipment, telemetry technology and communications capabilities in Air Launched Effects, Army manned and unmanned aerial systems, and ground control stations and computers to enable network data and voice transmission, receipt and processing.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Assist with the exploration of and Improvement of Network communications Bandwidth, processing speed, Range, Gain for teaming and ALE applications under development
  • Ensure the integration of existing and new Transmitters, receivers and antennae technologies onto intelligent teaming applications under development to enable network operations to include consideration of volume and weight limited applications
  • Analyze and evaluate Air Tier networks, identify issues and provide solutions to ensure networks are operating efficiently and effectively
  • Assist team with NIPR and SIPR Network applications setup and use for intelligent teaming applications under development
  • Assist with exploration of technologies and solutions for complex terrain Mission Applications in Line of Site and Non-line of site situations including urban, mountainous, dessert, woodland terrains and degraded or denied operating environment to mitigate network degradations
  • Ensure the integration of Intelligent teaming network requirements and capabilities into test and demo networks and range networks
  • Participate in Communications Exercises in preparation for tests and demonstrations (Project Convergence, EDGE, Partial Capabilities Development testing)
  • Communicate technical information in writing and presentations to other technical team members and coworkers/colleagues in other activities.

Qualifications Required:

  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance
  • At least 8 years engineering application experience
  • Bachelor of Science degree in network engineering or closely related field of study from an ABET accredited academic institution

Desired Experience:

  • 3-5 years' experience with U.S. Army network development
  • Top Secret Security Clearance
  • Master of Science degree in network engineering or closely related field of study from an ABET accredited academic institution
