General Requirements:
High school graduate or G.E.D. Technical or vocational training related to job duties would be helpful. Three years experience including at least one year in a supervisory capacity or experience in a related field. Additional education may be considered in lieu of experience.
Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:
To perform specialized skills of high complexity in grounds keeping areas.
Primary Responsibilities (Staff Positions Only):
Responsible for specialized areas of grounds maintenance including irrigation systems and identifies and treats insects and diseases of the various types of plants and turf species. Applies or supervises application of herbicides, fungicides and insecticides. Performs or supervises skilled pruning and out planting of landscape materials such as trees, shrubs and bedding plants. Performs or supervises the installation and maintenance of manual and automatic irrigation systems and other specialized grounds maintenance equipment including commercial mowers, both reel and rotary type, tractors, and sprayers used on campus grounds. Performs other related duties as assigned.
