General Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in related field. Four years of experience in academic advising, customer service, administrative experience, or experience in a related field. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:
Serves as Senior Academic Advisor to students and helps design programs relevant to students in their academic pursuits.
Primary Responsibilities (Staff Positions Only):
Advises enrolled and prospective students regarding academic programs and curriculum requirements for the following majors: Business, Agriculture, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Education, Kinesiology, Healthcare Administration, and other degree plans as assigned. Maintains and updates detailed student files throughout their academic careers and makes changes to records as necessary. Provides academic advice and student support to various populations, including students in academic jeopardy. Assists with resolving academic issues. Analyzes and processes degree plans and degree exceptions. Will serve as a liaison between The Woodlands Center and Lone Star College Montgomery and will facilitate advising-related events between the two partner schools. Focuses on Transfer Degree Plans between Lone Star College – Montgomery and Sam Houston State University. Performs other related duties as assigned.
