Healthfirst Senior Data Analyst, Medical Economics and Medical Cost, Hybrid NY in Hybrid, New York
Duties and Responsibilities
Value new medical cost initiatives, applying financial modeling expertise and using independent judgement to determine the best methods and approaches to calculate accurate estimates of program savings.
Provide data driven analysis to Finance, Claims, Medical Management, Network, and other departments to enable critical decision making.
Coordinate program implementation with initiative owners and establish controls to validate that changes have occurred.
Thoroughly vet and perform due diligence on potential value-based arrangements to assess financial impact, ensure operational feasibility, and identify impact on existing programs.
Identify favorable and unfavorable performance trends within medical cost initiatives, communicate trends to leadership, and recommend changes to initiative owners to improve performance.
Perform complex return on investment analyses for vendors to determine if their financial and clinical performance is achieving desired results.
Keep abreast of New York Medicaid and Medicare reforms and their impact on Healthfirst and their owner hospital performance.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree from an accredited institution or equivalent
2+ years' experience in data analytics or consulting, preferably in the healthcare industry
One year of experience using analytics tools like SQL, R or Python.
Work experience with SQL where you have created queries, pulled large data sets and performed data manipulations/analysis
Experience with data visualization and reporting techniques using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or similar
Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Familiarity with cloud technologies
Knowledge of statistical methodologies and tools, including experimentation design
Demonstrated success analyzing large datasets
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Continuous learning mindset
Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Business Analytics, or similar field
Three or more years of working experience with SQL
One or more years of working experience with Python
Familiarity with the AWS ecosystem, specifically Redshift
Experience with Git/versioning control for managing code changes and collaboration
Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to collaborate and influence across functions
Advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to make critical, independent decisions within area of responsibility
Excellent time management and the ability to prioritize work and complete assignments within their allotted deadline
Knowledge of health care industry, products, systems, business strategies and products
