If so, the Enterprise Clouds organization is looking for a customer obsessed Manager who will lead an engineering team that builds services and tools to provide autonomous and efficient internet-scale cloud buildout and runtime infrastructure.

As a Principal Engineering Manager on the Sovereign Clouds Runtime organization, you will manage a technical team to develop services and components that are responsible for building, managing and operating a Sovereign Cloud.

Responsibilities
Lead and coach a growing team of software engineers; create clarity, communicate teams' vision, strategy and progress to peers, partners and senior leaders; provide expert guidance, hands-on assistance, best practices and trainings, establishes team culture with emphasis on customer focus and engineering agility, removing barriers and enabling the team to be productive
Effectively lead architectural reviews, planning and execution processes, creating robust engineering plans. Make timely decisions to meet security, reliability, quality and shipping goals
Consistently identify, reward and manage growth of highly performing engineering talent and help all team members achieve the most in their careers
Build a team with diverse viewpoints and capabilities needed to achieve business objectives
Find opportunities for collaboration across teams even geographically distributed including program management, contribute on cross-team commitments, and achieve scale by enabling the work of others
Translate business requirements into a strategy for systems solutions, derive data driven insights, building experiences that empower users to do more.
Lead the continuous improvement of engineering and quality practices. Work across business groups to ensure the long-term integrity of a product area.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, or Python.
Experience with designing and building highly available distributed systems at scale.
In-depth experience with cloud-scale applications and live services.
Proven experience in building, managing and/or leading a team of Software Engineers.
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with designing and building highly available distribute systems at scale.
Experience with building developer tools or cloud operations services.
Experience with agile methodologies.
Extensive experience with managing and leading a software engineering team.
