Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a MFC Radioactive Material & Transportation Nuclear Facility Manager (NFM) to work in our Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) Radioactive material and Transportation department. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our Materials and Fuels Complex with every Friday off.

The Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is seeking candidates for a Nuclear Facility Manager (NFM) reporting to the MFC Radioactive Material & Transportation Division.

Responsibilities Include:

The RM&T Division includes four Hazard Category II nuclear facility that provide material & waste interim storage, handling, and movement for MFC. The RM&T Division also includes several radiological facilities and provides the TSD support for much of MFC. INL is recognized as the lead national laboratory for the United States Department of Energy, Office of Nuclear Energy, providing much of the nuclear research, development and demonstration capability needed to move nuclear innovation forward to development. MFC hosts a unique combination of personnel, facilities and infrastructure and offers the ability to perform research and development of nuclear fuels from fuel development and fabrication, and post irradiation analysis. MFC plays a important role in supporting the National Reactor Center, which provides resources for testing, demonstration, and performance assessment to accelerate the development of new, advanced nuclear technology concepts.

The Nuclear Facility Manager (NFM) is responsible for nuclear safety management within their assigned nuclear and radiological facilities. Establish and communicate a strategic vision for successful nuclear or radiological facility operations, mission accomplishments and implementation of continuous improvements.

*Minimum Requirements: *

  • MR0300: BS plus 7 years relevant experience which includes supervisory and/or technical experience in nuclear facility operations, testing, and maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory requirements, waste management, nuclear material, waste transportation requirements, environmental requirements, as they apply to operations of a nuclear facility.
  • Working knowledge of DOE nuclear authorization basis requirements.
  • Working knowledge of nuclear material radiological and criticality hazards and mitigations.
  • Inclusion in the Human Reliability Performance (HRP) of which will require additional scrutiny by the HRP Program administrators.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

Preferred:

  • A comprehensive level of knowledge of nuclear facility operations which includes: conduct of operations, criticality safety, nuclear safety, administrative requirements for operation, work management, facility operations, abnormal and emergency procedures, system design, construction and their interrelationships.
  • Good technical knowledge in mathematics, nuclear physics, chemistry, materials, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and instrument and control theory.
  • Considerable skill in, problem/solving/trouble shooting techniques, and coping with emergency situations.
  • Experience security controls for nuclear material.

  • Salary Grade: example: MR0300 230 – ($124,368 - $211,596)
