Battelle Energy Alliance dba Idaho National Laboratory Senior Relationship Manager in Idaho Falls, Idaho

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Senior Relations Manager to work in our Energy and Environment Science and Technology (EEST). Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off. Hybrid work opportunities may be available for this position. You will report to the Department Manager.

You will lead program development strategies and customer relationships for EEST program areas focused on manufacturing, including important materials, materials for harsh environments, recycling, chemical manufacturing, and industrial decarbonization.

Additionally, you will be the Laboratory Relationship Manager to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Technologies Office (AMMTO).

Responsibilities Include:

The ability to improve activities and relationships in advanced manufacturing technology development for demonstration at the INL Energy Technology Proving Grounds is important.

Lead research business development opportunities associated with the INL-EEST Advance Manufacturing and Decarbonization Program.

Engage appropriate technical leadership to solve complex business opportunity problems with little or no precedence, using pioneering techniques to provide solutions that are innovative.

Provide coordination between DOE, industry, university, and laboratory work to minimize overlap, work conflict, and manage potential organizational conflicts of interest (OCI).

Monitor performance of all DOE-AMMTO federal funding agreements and DOE-AMMTO sponsored work projects to ensure they are accomplished per agreement.

Responsible for regular communications with DOE-AMMTO customers on business opportunities and research activities.

Establish a structured coordinated approach for integrating DOE-AMMTO federal funding agreements and industry projects to build trust with DOE-AMMTO sponsors and efficiency in work execution.

Coordinate with the EEST leadership to establish a focal point to negotiate and establish agreements to help manage legal and performance risks with doing business with industry.

Maintain annually a business strategy and research strategy to promote the future operations of INL/EEST facilities, capabilities, and investments.

Have a working knowledge of all DOE-AMMTO research performed in assigned laboratory spaces with specific understanding of work hazards and expected mitigations.

Maintain close relationships with principal researchers, principal investigators, project managers, Lab Managers, Lab Space Coordinators, and department manager(s).

Participate in work control reviews and walk-downs to ensure the required resources, facilities, equipment, and assurance processes are adequate to ensure, safe, and environmentally compliant conduct of DOE-AMMTO work.

Lead business development activities that support INL/EEST Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) program goals.

Minimum Requirements:

Advanced degree and 8 years of experience.

Preference given to candidates with experience working with DOE and other federal customers to creating and securing funding opportunities.

Preferred education: PhD in manufacturing engineering or equivalent with 8 years of experience.

You will be asked to obtain/maintain a Department of Energy L Clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
