Battelle Energy Alliance dba Idaho National Laboratory Shift Supervisor – Fuel Fabrication and Nuclear Material Management Division in Idaho Falls, Idaho

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Shift Supervisor to work in the Fuel Fabrication and Nuclear Material Management division. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located at the Materials and Fuels Complex with every Friday off. This position will primarily be located at the Fuels and Applied Science Building and Experimental Fuels Facility. The Fuels and Applied Science Building and Experimental Fuels Facility are radiological facilities that house small hot cells, gloveboxes, hoods, uranium machining and forming equipment, and a variety of other nuclear fuels research processes. The Shift Supervisor is responsible to manage the facility, operations team, maintenance and to oversee all research activities in these facilities.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Oversee operations, research, and maintenance activities for assigned facilities.
  • Ensure safety and compliance standards are met by all facility users.
  • Supervise a team of nuclear facility operators.
  • Provide direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance.
  • Responsible for coordinating operations, maintenance, and research schedules, and communicate impacts to facility users.
  • Receive assignments based on incremental objectives and defined processes.
  • Develop and manage routine operational and maintenance plans for assigned facilities.
  • Participate in the development of overall objectives and long-term goals of the division.
  • Interact with other functional organizations within MFC, including: engineering, maintenance, radiological controls, and research programs.
  • Train and develop junior staff members in the areas of conduct of operations, facility safety, and facility compliance.

*Minimum Requirements: * * Bachelor's degree in a related science, technology, or business field and 4 years relevant experience, OR relevant Vocational certificate and 10 years relevant experience, OR 12 years relevant nuclear experience * Demonstrated leadership qualities and/or previous supervisory experience. * Complete and maintain all certification requirements for nuclear area facility Shift Supervisors within one year of hire date. * This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship. * Experience working and operating radiological gloveboxes preferred. * Experience handling nuclear material preferred.

  • Salary Grade: 520 ($89,652 - $215,160)

  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
