Flynn Restaurant Group Sr. Manager, Transactional Accounting in Independence, Ohio

Position Description

Reporting to the Senior Director, Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable the Senior Manager, Transactional Accounting is a key financial leader. This person Leads and manages the Transactional Accounting team ensuring timely and accurate month end close activities and reporting, maintaining accurate vendor records and ensuring compliance to internal controls. This role is responsible for overseeing the accounting and reporting of vendor rebates, cash discounts, vendor maintenance, fixed assets transactions, monthly accruals, account reconciliations and GL account review and maintenance. This person will be instrumental in the development of the Transactional Accounting team and will proactively drive, design, and strengthen efficient transactional accounting processes which are scalable and supportive of a growing company, while ensuring effective compliance with policy and controls.

Essential responsibilities include:

  • Develop, manage, and mentor a team of 9 professionals and provide guidance, motivate, communicate, and hold team accountable.

  • Ensure accurate coding, posting, and maintenance of fixed assets through the ERP system and follow accounting standards and reporting requirements.

  • Oversee accurate and timely completion of monthly accruals and account reconciliations by Transactional Accounting staff.

  • Work cross functionally to ensure proper posting of transactions to general ledger.

  • Develop and oversee reporting and analysis of account fluctuations and trends.

  • Oversee and monitor monthly vendor rebate accruals and related reporting.

  • Manage and guide team, ensuring accurate and timely setup and maintenance of all vendors within the SAP system.

  • Develop vendor-based reporting to assist in the continued improvement of DPO and working capital efficiencies by leveraging improved terms, cash discounts and ePayables.

  • Partner with the FP&A and Treasury teams on static and dynamic cash discounts programs.

  • Work cross-functionally with Procurement to optimize supplier base and utilization of the Coupa S2P platform.

  • Develops, implements, and educates employees and management on new and/or updated policies and procedures.

  • Develop and monitor metrics to measure performance and benchmark department.

  • Leads other projects and initiatives as assigned.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field mandatory.

  • Seven or more years of accounting experience with proven track record of success.

  • Five or more years of management experience required.

  • Familiar with Accounting ERP software and other Operational Support software. SAP, Power BI and Coupa experience a plus.

  • Proven knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and compliances.

  • Excellent communication, analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.

  • Superb research skills and knowledge in laws affecting financial operations.

  • Ability to analyze accounting records and adopt methods needed to solve accounting problems.

  • Exceptional planning and organizational skills to balance and prioritize work.

  • Detail oriented with refined planning and organizing abilities.
