Job Summary

Battelle is currently seeking a Senior CBRN Technician . This position is located in Indian Head, MD .

This is a full-time position. The selected candidate will work as part of a team providing logistics, training and equipment maintenance support to the USMC Marine Forces Command Chemical Biological Incident Response Force (CBIRF). The candidate will apply job skills and applicable certifications, policies, and procedures to complete a variety of tasks. The candidate will maintain a suite of Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) equipment performing Preventive Maintenance, Checks and Services (PMCS), Corrective Maintenance (CM), ordering spare parts and consumables, inventory management, lot number and shelf-life tracking, equipment distribution, and documenting the status of supply and maintenance activities in Government approved Logistics Information Systems (LIS).

Responsibilities

  • Ensures the CBIRF equipment is fully operational for rapid deployment by providing on-site maintenance and logistics support in coordination with the on-scene uniformed leadership, site manager and other warehouse technician staff.

  • Provides customer service representation at equipment issue point during normal Government working hours; and via telephone or email during Government non-working hours, on a 24-hour per day, seven day a week basis as required.

  • Maintains appropriate original equipment manufacturers (OEM) certifications on a variety of CBRN equipment

  • Completes Train-The-Trainer courses and serve as a New User and New Equipment Training (NET) Instructor

  • Documents equipment maintenance activities, supply/spare part transactions, inventory status, items sent to vendors, calibration status and warranties within the Government approved Logistics Information System (LIS) and other Government software packages such as Global Combat Support System – Marine Corps (GCSS-MC) and Defense Priorities and Allocations System (DPAS) Program.

  • Provides all reports associated with maintenance and supply (i.e. monthly, quarterly) as required by the CBIRF Site Lead.

  • Ensures minimum stockage levels of required repair parts and consumables; procures and stocks materials when required and manage inventory within the CBRN Warehouse.

  • Coordinates equipment shipments to vendors for repair and to any location on the globe to support CBIRF operational activities.

  • Performs Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) and Corrective Maintenance (CM) actions in accordance with OEM Technical Manuals.

  • Conducts visual inspections and functional tests on equipment, including equipment calibration and set up to evaluate the condition and quality of CBRND equipment in accordance with established directives and procedures; specific actions are as follows:

  • Flow testing/maintenance for 3M/Scott Airpack 75 Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA)

  • Annual Maintenance on Holmatro Extrication Systems

  • Maintenance and Inspection of DRSKO Kits

  • Operate and conduct mask testing on Joint Service Mask Leakage tester (JSMLT).

  • Test and inspect COTS PPE

  • Operates designated support equipment such as sealers, air compressors, special tools, and Material Handling Equipment as required

  • Works on assignments that are complex in nature where considerable judgment, creativity and initiative are required to identify the problem and provides input into a solution.

  • Completes complex tasks under minimal supervision or guidance. Plans and performs project work from a basic understanding of objectives and work statements.

  • Complies with host facility regulations relevant to safety and environmental issues.

Key Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a mechanical and/or electrical technical related field; and 5 years of applicable experience; or an equivalent combination of education and / or experience; 3 years of related experience in the CBRN field.

  • Experience in reading technical assembly drawings and performing equipment PMCS, CM, tests and calibration per the OEM technical manuals.

  • Exhibits technical knowledge and troubleshooting skills to complete complex assignments and demonstrates the ability to solve complex problems.

  • Ability to use common computer programs such Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently.

  • Ability to handle multiple job assignments simultaneously and manage time effectively.

  • Available to work weekends when maintenance and/or part availability deadlines must be met to meet system deployment schedule.

  • Required to be able to lift 50 pounds.

  • Required to stand for prolong periods of time

  • General knowledge of CBRN personal protective and response equipment with related experience in the CBRN field.

  • Knowledge of military/DoD logistics operations (supply, maintenance and distribution).

  • May be required to secure or maintain a DoD SECRET clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with using Government maintenance and supply systems such as GCSS-MC, and DPAS Program.

  • Experience working with or alongside military units.

  • Experience in inventory management and maintenance documentation.

  • May be expected to pursue various certifications or continuing educational units, as needed.

  • Experience performing analysis of maintenance and supply data.

  • Experience as a forklift operator.

  • MOS 57XX series experience preferred.
