ICCAP Indiana County Local Food Liaison in INDIANA, Pennsylvania

Job Overview:

The Indiana County Local Food Liaison facilitates collaboration among food system partners in Indiana County. This position supports the work of the Indiana County Collective Impact Working Group, a group of community leaders working together to launch community-led projects and programs that increase access to food assistance. This position supports the work of community organizations from diverse sectors including food banks and pantries, agriculture and community gardens, faith-based organizations, healthcare, nutrition, education, and aging services. The Indiana County Local Food Liaison will function as a community connector and will be a point person for all things food assistance in Indiana County. 

 

Duties & Accountabilities:

  1. Establish and maintain strong relationships with Indiana County Collective Impact Working Group member organizations and other key stakeholders who have an interest in food security and local food systems.  
  2. Create and maintain a comprehensive food assistance resource guide in both print and online form and oversee the distribution of resource guides to community organizations.
  3. Provide administrative and capacity-building support for community-led projects and programs funded by the Working Group. 
  4. Provide administrative and capacity-building support for new and developing projects at Indiana County Community Action Program's Food Bank in Indiana, PA.  
  5. Coordinate collaboration between Working Group member organizations, including organizing nutrition and food education, planning and/or hosting volunteer events and workdays, and other outreach efforts.
  6. Coordinate with GPCFB's Child Nutrition and Community Connections teams to increase access to federal nutrition programs in Indiana County, including the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), School Breakfast Program (SBP), and Summer Food Service Program (SFPSP). 
  7. Respect the geographic and cultural diversity of community partners and their participants by becoming familiar with customs and behaviors at various locations. 
  8. Promote practices that support equity, diversity, inclusion, and cultural humility. 
  9. Other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

Special Licenses, Traits, Skills and/or Certifications:  Demonstrated experience with capacity-building or community development preferred.  Project coordination and organization skills; ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail; meet deadlines, ability to handle interruptions, and produce timely, accurate work.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills, outstanding interpersonal skills; a good listener and thoughtful respondent and positive influencer. 

 

Education and/or Experience:  Bachelor's degree or commensurate experience, previous experience in the human services, social work, or food systems sector(s) preferred.

 

Computer Skills:  To perform this job successfully the following computer skills are required:  Computer Literate, including the Windows Operating System and Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Internet Explorer; and data entry.

 

Conditions of Employment:  The conditions of employment for this job description are:

  • Current resident of Indiana County preferred or individual with strong personal and/or geographic connections to the communities served.
  • Able to work evenings and weekends as needed to support the achievement of all project goals and objectives.
  • Must possess a vehicle and valid driver's license.  Work travel, if required, is reimbursed at the federal reimbursement rate.
    • Must have or be willing to obtain Act 33 & 34 clearances and FBI clearance with fingerprinting.
