Director, Innovation and Transformation at Somatus



The Director, Innovation & Transformation, reporting to the VP, Corporate Initiatives, will be responsible for ensuring systematic innovation management, as well as, assessing, evaluating, and analyzing innovative and transformative ideas and the impact to the overall success of Somatus. The Director will be a thought partner with leaders across Somatus to identify innovative, transformative, and business diversification opportunities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Assess, review, and evaluate new concepts across Somatus and its impact across the healthcare ecosystem

· Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis using appropriate tools and technology

· Partner cross-functionally with leaders to assess, evaluate and analyze ideas

· Build on Somatus’ vision and plan for increased access to affordable healthcare for low-income and at-risk patient populations

· Determine viability of all innovative and transformative ideas

· Diagnose impact and have foresight into short-and long-term potential issues

· Assess healthcare trends, Somatus core capabilities, competitor profiling, and complete gap and SWAT analysis, as well as ROI to synthesize findings and derive important business insights.

· Establish metrics, benchmark against competitors, assess industry developments, evaluate potential new business ventures, and explore acquisitions

· Research and identify impact with aligned patient populations

· Determine budget implications

· Effectively and proactively communicates risks to management and assists with the development of viable solutions to mitigate risk

· Leverage Project Manager and Analyst

· Partner with the project management team to provide seamless handoff and continuity between the implementation and innovation services teams

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree, in global health, health management, or business. Master’s degree in global health, health management, business or other related fields of study preferred

  • Five (5) to eight (8) years of progressive healthcare strategy, development and/or innovative experience

  • Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience innovating, executing, and/or transforming ideas in a healthcare setting

  • Track record of driving process, quality, and cost outcomes

  • Strategy, Change Management, or Process Improvement Certification preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

· Advanced analytical skills and a deep understanding of healthcare

· Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities

· Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to drive change that will stretch the organization and push the boundaries

· Strong working knowledge of health disparities, social determinants of health, uncompensated and undercompensated care, community and coalition building, public policy, and advocacy

· Develop an intuitive understanding of Somatus and the broader healthcare environment

· Ability to synthesize and interpret large amounts of disparate data

· Comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty

· The ability to adapt nimbly and manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

· Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills

· Ability to articulate complex concepts

· Ability to stay current on organizational activities

· Thrives on problem solving and taking risk to create new and improved solutions

Travel Requirements:

· Willingness to travel 10-15%

Physical Requirements:

  • This job operates in a professional setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time. Normal manual dexterity is required.

  • Normal speaking and hearing abilities to interact with others in an office environment, over telephone or other video conferencing platform.

  • The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and reach with hands and arms and continuously repeat the same hand, arm finger motion many times as in typing.
