Organization Overview:

The Clinical Trial (CT) manufacturing organization is responsible for the make and release of parenteral drug product, supporting the Clinical Supply and Delivery (CSD) organization and their objectives. The facility is a manufacturing plant specializing in aseptic processing and sterile medicines production for clinical trials, along with the associated technical data and documentation to support GMP activities.

This position is within the FUME (Facilities, Utilities, Maintenance, Engineering) organization of the manufacturing team and supports ongoing operations by coordinating FUME activities within the plant. The role is based around GMP manufacturing activities and must follow current regulatory/compliance requirements, guidance, and expectations from global enforcement agencies.

Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for establishing and maintaining the reliable operation and qualified state of FUME owned equipment and business processes within the plant. Duties will require collaboration with the outsourced Facilities Management (FM) and Project Management (PM) service provider, Lilly Engineering Tech Center, and A/E firm to ensure facilities/systems meet the requirements of the business.

  • Take overall responsibility for the safe design and safe operation of the equipment within the area.

  • Provide engineering expertise as active member of area FUME team.

  • Obtain technical expertise of equipment and process in area of responsibility. This includes clear understanding of equipment design, user requirements, and operation.

  • Establish and monitor/trend control systems to verify and optimize equipment performance.

  • Apply formal problem-solving techniques, including Root cause Analysis, to resolve equipment issues.

  • Evaluate all activities for impact on qualified state of equipment and use appropriate tools/process (change control, deviation, hold, etc.).

  • Coordinate maintenance and shutdown activities between multi-functional team (Operations, maintenance provider, etc.).

  • Identify and drive improvement opportunities (procedural changes, upgrades, project, etc.) associated with equipment in the area.

  • Assure maintenance strategies and reliability processes exist for systems and equipment.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree (Preferably in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering)

  • At least one year of facilities and utilities experience or demonstrated equivalency

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Experience in pharmaceutical or other highly regulated industry

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Technical understanding of black/grey/clean utilities, HVAC, other mechanical equipment used in a manufacturing environment.

  • Solid understanding of Maximo/GMARS or similar CMMS

  • Prior work with asset lifecycle management

  • Proven track record to solve, investigate issues, and provide technical oversite

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple improvement projects

Additional Information:

  • Typical schedule is standard business hours Monday through Friday.

  • Occasional extended-hour, after-hour, and shutdown support may be required.

  • This position is based in Indianapolis, IN and requires on-site support.

  • Minimal travel required.
