Allegion Manufacturing & Automation Engineering Technician in Indianapolis, Indiana

Responsibilities:

  • Support automation and robotic project activities like panel build and vision system training.

  • Perform design and modeling using graphical software tools – Creo and AutoCAD.

  • Design engineering solutions for tooling, fixturing and/or controls.

  • Support process improvements, quality issues, and new product launches.

  • Design equipment/tooling, quote equipment, present options, and implement solution.

  • Follow-up on internal build with maintenance, tool room, controls and engineering support. Follow-up with vendors as needed.

  • Implement and support Operations from off-line testing to release to production.

  • Access to 3D printed prototypes to serve as proof-of-concept for fixture designs.

  • Document electrical and mechanical in AutoCAD to support automation initiatives.

  • Create and update standard work including cell and line balancing activities.

  • Perform additional assignments to support process engineering projects.

Requirements:

  • Degree or pursuing a degree in a relevant technical discipline like engineering, engineering technology, automation or CAD design (preferred).

  • Demonstrated leadership ability and initiative from work experience or school projects.

  • Trained in 3D CAD modeling using CREO or similar for mechanical designs (required).

  • Utilize AutoCAD for electrical prints or layouts (preferred). Willing to train candidate.

  • Mechanical and analytical skills to conceptualize 2D and 3D drawings.

  • Read and interpret blueprints (required).

  • Attention to detail, and a customer-oriented attitude toward changes.

  • Effective listening, time management and creative problem-solving techniques

  • Experience or interest in an industrial environment working with skilled trades.

  • Desire to learn and grow by with projects that will impact Allegion’s business and customers.
