Job Description
We are looking for a Paralegal to review court-ordered documents, assist with queries, and direct calls. This position will be a full-time contract and onsite .
What You’ll Do
Answer phone lines and ensure no attorney-client relationship is inferred
Assist with queries, direct individuals to the Expungement website/email, take messages, or direct calls to appropriate departments
Pick up mail from the mailroom and deliver it to the office
Review court-ordered expungements, correlate information with criminal data in the Criminal History Records Information System (CHRIS), identify cause numbers to be expunged, and address the record as per Indiana Code
Conduct factual research, liaise among various internal departments and outside agencies (e.g., Courts, FBI), prepare and organize documents, and coordinate productions
Assist other paralegals with training, direct daily work assignments, and handle issues/questions from other agencies and the court system
What You'll Need
Required:
Experience or knowledge in legal procedures and documentation
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to conduct research and manage multiple tasks efficiently
Preferred:
Prior experience in a similar role or working within a legal environment
Familiarity with Indiana State Police procedures and the expungement process
Physical Demands
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards
Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.
Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor
