Job Description

We are looking for a Paralegal to review court-ordered documents, assist with queries, and direct calls. This position will be a full-time contract and onsite .

What You’ll Do

  • Answer phone lines and ensure no attorney-client relationship is inferred

  • Assist with queries, direct individuals to the Expungement website/email, take messages, or direct calls to appropriate departments

  • Pick up mail from the mailroom and deliver it to the office

  • Review court-ordered expungements, correlate information with criminal data in the Criminal History Records Information System (CHRIS), identify cause numbers to be expunged, and address the record as per Indiana Code

  • Conduct factual research, liaise among various internal departments and outside agencies (e.g., Courts, FBI), prepare and organize documents, and coordinate productions

  • Assist other paralegals with training, direct daily work assignments, and handle issues/questions from other agencies and the court system

What You'll Need

Required:

  • Experience or knowledge in legal procedures and documentation

  • Strong organizational and communication skills

  • Ability to conduct research and manage multiple tasks efficiently

Preferred:

  • Prior experience in a similar role or working within a legal environment

  • Familiarity with Indiana State Police procedures and the expungement process

Physical Demands

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards

  • Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.

  • Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor
