Summary
The Climate Sustainability Expert will be a key member of the Corporate Sustainability team. This role will advise and lead the execution of strategic corporate sustainability initiatives and support businesses to drive progress on key environmental areas to unlock value. This role will work across the business ecosystem and partner closely with commercial teams, operations and risk. Ideal candidate would be passionate about sustainability, able to navigate change, and be able to successfully work cross-functionally. Responsibilities
Enterprise Climate Impact Enablement
Develop thorough understanding of CHS’s greenhouse gas footprint and support identification and development of continuous improvement projects to further refine our understanding across scopes 1, 2 and 3
Support development of climate-related goals and processes needed to operationalize commitments corporately and in partnership with the business
Explore and identify carbon impact opportunities to reduce our footprint or enable value with our customers
Develop content and materials for knowledge and awareness of climate-related topics that impact CHS, our customers or owners
Provide technical expertise on greenhouse gas accounting for agricultural greenhouse gas emissions and develop tools/resources to support internal/external education for key stakeholders.
Continually analyze and identify opportunities to build and evolve CHS’s climate sustainability program with limited direction
Reporting, Disclosures, and Claims
Provide subject matter expertise on climate for regulated reporting disclosures (CSRD, SEC, etc) as well as CHS’s annual sustainability report and customer surveys
Closely follow, interpret, and advise on climate-related policy changes. Collaborate to mitigate identified risks.
Support businesses with technical expertise, tools and training to enable strategic, relevant, and credible carbon impact claims in operations and value chain
Impact Assessment
Develop and execute risk/impact mapping for climate and other sustainability issues as needed
Support integration of risks and opportunities into the business strategy
Develop and support strategic partnerships with to advance progress in climate-related issues
Identify and participate in relevant external forums
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications (required)
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience
Technical knowledge in greenhouse gas accounting and climate-related issues with demonstrated capacity to apply concepts in a business setting
Experience leading or supporting corporate sustainability work including managing complex projects to completion
Minimum of seven years of related work experience
Additional Qualifications
This position will be required to lead through influence.
Experience building and deploying new sustainability programs at the corporate level
Ability to navigate through complexity
Ability to translate technical topics to a general audience
Familiarity with sustainability, carbon, and/or conservation ag practices

Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications.
