Position Overview As a Temporary Inventory Specialist, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Production department to ensure safety, productivity, and efficient inventory management. This includes maintaining safety standards, managing inventory flow, and coordinating with suppliers and customers. Your role is essential in maintaining compliance with OSHA safety regulations and supporting the Production Manager in various administrative and operational tasks. This is a temporary position anticipated to last through September. Key Responsibilities: Safety and Compliance: - Manage daily safety inspections and logs. - Follow safety abatement plans. - Maintain OSHA records and ensure all processes adhere to OSHA safety regulations. Inventory Management: - Oversee the flow of inventory into and out of the shop. - Audit inventory reception, consumption, and shipments for accuracy. - Ensure proper storage of inventory to minimize damage risks. - Compile and issue inventory reports to management. - Investigate inventory shortages and discrepancies. - Conduct monthly physical counting and scanning of all inventory. - Present monthly overstock reports and collaborate on sales and reduction plans. Production Support: - Maintain daily production reports (e.g., cut and completed pieces). - Manage and maintain the daily cut schedule and production programming. - Assign jobs to machines and create CAD files. - Identify slab and scrap usage. - Assist with the installation schedule if needed. - Participate in weekly production and maintenance meetings. - Assist with monthly inventory counts, including slabs and non-barcode inventory. - Produce weekly reports, including photos of facility cleanliness. Administrative Tasks: - Follow up with the Production Manager regarding employee hours, vacation, sick time, and overtime control. - Coordinate with suppliers and customers for material selections and approvals. - Order equipment for manufacturers and technicians. - Maintain equipment maintenance logs and downtime reports. - Assist the Production Manager in building equipment improvement projects. - Partner with the People Department to maintain office policies. Collaboration: - Work with sales reps, customers, and shop members to determine upcoming inventory needs. - Review daily DRP for order needs and place orders accordingly. - Manage slow-moving and discontinued stock to target less than 5% of total inventory. - Ensure short slab stock targets 25% or more of total inventory. - Assist in developing plans for sales and reduction with the sales team. - Other Duties: - Perform other tasks as assigned by management. Qualifications: - Experience: - Minimum 2 years of experience working with production inventory processes. - 2-4 years of administrative experience. Skills: - Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, etc.). - Familiarity with SAP is highly desirable. - Strong organizational skills and ability to work with minimal supervision. - Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
