Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented, organized, proactive and responsive Director to manage and lead the distribution center of excellence operation and project management strategic initiatives related to Distribution. The role involves collaborating within the enterprise portfolio across various departments and brands, supporting the GearUp Distribution Consolidation initiative aimed at achieving $15 million in annual cost reductions. This individual collaborates closely with the Executive Business Owners to uphold top-notch practices and processes.
This position reports to the Vice President of Operations and can be located at our DC locations (Stockton or Rantoul) or at our Adventure Sports platform in Irvine, CA.
As the Director, you will have an opportunity to:
Drive synergies across the distribution network.
Ensure best in class processes are in place.
Effectively lead project processes and people to drive results in a fast-paced environment.
Work with Supply Chain areas to create metrics and reporting.
Facilitate large-scale, complex projects often involving multiple internal and external participants and partners. Initiate and directly manage all aspects of the project life cycle and oversee all phases of a project utilizing hybrid methodologies.
Implement distribution automation improving EBIT and customer experience.
Support direct to consumer, eCommerce, cross border, and reverse logistics solutions working the internal and external partners.
Build the business case, cost assumptions and provide on-going reconciliation of project expenditures.
Understand company roles & responsibilities to provide guidance on scoping, requirements and stakeholders. Ensure all appropriate resources are accounted for.
Assess resource capacity and provide recommendations for achievable allocation and outcomes.
Proactively manage all levels of risk to ensure mitigation plans are in place, while balancing escalation and communication protocols with appropriate stakeholders.
Recognize change management opportunities. Develop and implement change management plans with stakeholders for successful adoption.
Ensure end results are value driven via clearly articulated scope and quantifiable business benefit.
Manage scope to ensure commitments are achieved within agreed upon time, cost, and quality parameters.
Contribute to the PMO development and execution. Utilize required systems to manage the project and update the business.
Provide executive reporting/updates to keep leadership updated on status of projects.
Travel will be expected in this role to our various DC sites.
You have:
10+ years of distribution & logistics experience.
Multiple/repeated experiences consolidating distribution centers (opening & closing).
project management experience, managing multiple cross-functional projects with varying complexities.
Excellent planning, time management, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to assemble and motivate teams, set direction and approach, resolve conflict and deliver tough messages with grace.
Self-starter with proven ability to quickly build relationships and earn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders.
Focused and versatile team player that is comfortable under pressure.
Proven ability to juggle multiple projects at a time while maintaining sharp attention to detail.
Excellent presentation, listening, and negotiation skills.
Highly comfortable with cross-functional collaboration and communication at all levels, both written and verbally.
Ability to execute with limited information and ambiguity.
Sound business and technical acumen.
Knowledge and expertise in the use of project management tools.
Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
BA/BS Degree preferred and/or comparable work experience.
