Jacobs Senior Electrical Engineer - Water/Wastewater in Irvine, California

As a Senior Electrical Engineer based out of Irvine or San Diego, CA, you will lead designs for water and wastewater treatment facility expansions, pump station rehabilitation, greenfield projects, and electrical equipment replacement projects. You will work with project managers, support staff including electrical engineers, cost estimators, designers, drafters, and other engineering disciplines to provide quality work on schedule and within budget. You’ll also get the opportunity to work on transportation, ports & maritime projects. We partner across the globe to create the best project outcomes by maximizing the design, digital technology, and support capabilities of our Global Integrated Delivery (GID) teammates. You will engage with these teams to deliver solutions to our clients.

This position is intended as a modified full-time role, with the expectation of working an average of 21-39 hours per week.
We'll Expect You To:
Design electrical systems for water and wastewater conveyance and treatment facilities.
Lead in preparing contract documents for plans, specifications, and cost estimates for complex projects.
Electrical systems include low- and medium-voltage power distribution, lighting, emergency power systems, UPS, and batteries.
Expertly apply knowledge of commonly used electrical engineering and design concepts, principles, best practices, codes, and guidelines related to electrical engineering industry.
Manages several different assignments simultaneously.
Provide quality control and quality assurance of electrical engineering plans, specifications, and estimates in the water market.
Perform power system studies for electrical systems including load flow, short circuit, coordination and arc flash and competent in equipment sizing, grounding, and relay coordination preferred.
Perform field visits and conduct site investigations for public and private clients.
Provide services during construction including submittal reviews, response to Contractor’s request for information, review and approval of change orders, and preparation of record drawings.
Collaborate with multi-discipline teams across multiple office locations.
Develop basis of design reports.
Prepare proposals and interview with clients.
Mentor junior staff.
All other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
Registered California Professional Engineer (electrical) with ability to reciprocate as needed.
Minimum of 15 years of experience in electrical engineering role for government, municipal, and/or industrial water and wastewater projects.
Working knowledge of Word and Excel.
Strong understanding of NEC and NFPA 820.
Familiarity with IEEE color book series.
Knowledge of SKM or ETAP.
Experience working with Permitting review agencies.
Experience leading electrical discipline design for large projects and delegating work tasks to team members.
Strong time management skills.
Strong analytical, conceptual, problem solving and organizational skills.
Ability to effectively interface with all levels of personnel and management.
Ability to self-motivate and work independently with minimal supervision.
Ideally, you'll also have:
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
Experience with water and wastewater, industrial private-sector clients such as pharmaceutical, chemical, food products, petrochemical, or pulp and paper industries
Experience in designing and delivering municipal water and wastewater treatment projects via different delivery methods (design-bid-build, design-build, or other alternatives)
Knowledge of Bluebeam Revu
Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Microstation
Knowledge of Revit MEP
Knowledge of AGi32 or Visual Lighting Software
Knowledge of Title 24 compliance for electrical distribution and lighting
Field investigative and startup experience
