Edwards Lifesciences Senior Engineer, Environmental Health & Safety in Irvine, California

How you will make an impact:

· Evaluating environmental and/or safety needs with focus on any of the following: air compliance/permitting, wastewater solutions, ergonomics, and/or hazardous materials; propose options and implementation plans.

· Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and lead risk assessments, including job safety analysis, HAZOP, contractor evaluations and ensuring compliance with EHS goals and programs.

· Providing EHS expertise for new processes, new products, and technologies and participating in the change control process of the site.

· Researching, analyzing, and evaluating data to create non-routine reports in response to internal and external requests.

· Investigating cause for EHS incidents from employees and deviations from compliance and recommending sound corrective and preventive measures to avoid recurrence and providing feedback to relevant stakeholders.

· Developing and revising specialize and/or complex EHS training and written programs to ensure compliance with all applicable EHS regulations; may deliver training as necessary.

· Acting as liaison with government agencies and submitting regulatory reports for EHS programs as assigned by Manager.

· Conducting periodic internal inspections and audits at the site to ensure continuous compliance with applicable regulations and standards; and providing guidance to appropriate team members.

· Acting as a back-up emergency incident commander and/or safety officer as required.

What you’ll need (Required):

· Bachelor’s degree in engineering or Scientific field with 4 years of previously related industry experience OR Master’s Degree in Engineering or Scientific field with 3 years of previously related industry experience Required.

· Substantial understanding and knowledge of EPA, OSHA, local and federal regulations

· Strong problem-solving, organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills

· Good leadership skills and ability to influence change

· Must be able to work in a team environment, including inter-departmental teams and key contact representing the organization on contracts or projects

· Ability to interact with senior internal and external personnel on significant matters often requiring coordination between organizations

· Strong documentation, communication and interpersonal relationship skills including negotiating and relationship management skills

· Substantial understanding of processes and equipment used in assigned work

· Strict attention to detail

· Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

· Adhere to all company rules and requirements (e.g., pandemic protocols, Environmental Health & Safety rules) and take adequate control measures in preventing injuries to themselves and others as well as to the protection of environment and prevention of pollution under their span of influence/control

For California, the base pay range for this position is $88,000 to $124,000 (highly experienced).
