Job Summary:

The Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Manager at Middlesex Water Company will lead and oversee the financial planning, analysis, and reporting functions. This critical role will provide strategic financial insights to support decision-making, optimize resource allocation, and drive sustainable growth for the company. The successful candidate will be passionate about supporting and driving the Company’s Values, RIGHT: Respect, Integrity, Growth, Honesty and Teamwork.

Work Performed:

Regulatory Rate Filings and Analysis

  • Financial Planning and Forecasting:

  • Develop and manage the annual budgeting process, including revenue and expense forecasting.

  • Prepare long-range financial plans and forecasts, aligning with the company's strategic objectives.

  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, providing actionable insights.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of financial plans with operational goals.

  • Financial Analysis and Reporting:

  • Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes, including variance analysis and management reporting.

  • Prepare insightful financial reports and presentations for executive leadership and the Board of Directors.

  • Conduct ad-hoc financial analyses to support strategic initiatives and operational decision-making.

  • Develop and maintain financial models to assess the impact of various business scenarios.

  • Support the CFO and Investor Relations in the preparation of the investor presentations.

  • Process Improvement:

  • Continuously evaluate and improve financial processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

  • Implement new financial tools and technologies to drive data-driven decision-making.

  • Collaborate with IT and other departments to streamline financial workflows, reporting, system implementation and upgrades

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field.

  • MBA or advanced degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis.

  • Strong understanding of financial principles, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and data analysis.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to diverse audiences.

  • Proven leadership and team management skills.

  • Experience with Oracle EBS R12 is a plus.

Additional Considerations:

  • Knowledge of the regulated utility industry is preferred.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.

  • Self-motivated and results oriented.

Physical Requirements:

  • This position requires constant operation of a computer and other office equipment such as printers, copiers, calculators.

  • Must have the ability to visually inspect and review hard copy and online documents.

  • Must be able to communicate, detect, converse with, discern, convey, express oneself, discuss and exchange information.

  • Use written, verbal and audio communication and information sources.

  • Must be able to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50_ % of the time.
