PSYCHOMETRICIAN
Position Duties:
- Clean, manage, and organize large data files, run statistical analysis software such as SPSS, SAS, and/or R, and IRT calibration software (e.g., Winsteps, etc.) for new test development and normative update.
- Apply analytical skills to data sets, which include data interpretation, statistical modeling, item and test evaluations.
- Develop new scoring tables for newly assembled or modified test forms via calibration, scaling and equating.
- Plan and select appropriate statistical and psychometric methodologies involved in the accurate scoring, analysis, and reporting of assessment programs and initiate discussions across teams if psychometric/measurement risks are identified.
- Design and implement procedures for presenting technical characteristics of tests and related students scores and evaluates the extent to which product development activities will result in sound assessment products and communicates the findings to the stakeholders to highlight features for better education (teaching, learning, and guidance) in school setting.
- Work within a team to ensure that procedures for meeting test development standards are included in the project specifications. Respond to questions from team members and other internal staff, as well as project staff, regarding the technical characteristics of current products or products under development.
- Use written communication skills to describe proposed or recently completed work; uses spoken communication skills to present findings and results to internal teams as well as external customers.
- Maintain professional relationships as a representative or advisor to external advisory or policy boards and councils, research organizations, educational institutions, and educators. This includes presenting research findings at various conferences and writing white research papers for technical and nontechnical audiences.
Position Requirements:
Ph.D. (or ABD) in psychometrics, educational measurement, or a related field. A masters degree and extensive experience in educational measurement and psychometrics or related may be considered.
Rate of Pay:
From \$102,523.00 per year. This amount meets or exceeds the prevailing wage as determined by the U. S. Department of Labor.
